Hi. Has anyone ever rented points from David's or the **************? I am looking into doing this for the first time in November 2015. It would be a studio room at AK, contemporary, or boardwalk. It makes me nervous to trust strangers with so much. Any feedback and tips are welcome.

I do not rent points. I am an owner. When a good friend wanted to stay in a BWV 2 bedroom villa, I directed her to David's site, and her stay was without any problems. She would rent points from him again.:thumbsup2

I have used David's to rent out our points. It was a very easy process on the owners side and from what I have read very easy on the renters side also.

read the FAQs at david's carefully ("no refunds" being the most obvious typical difference from renting directly) but that is probably your best option.

i rented from an individual on the DISboards before i became an owner. had a good experience but i was able to find him by google and felt comfortable he was legit. i still prefer to control my own reservations as a member than trusting a stranger, though, so i understand how you feel.

I have never rented from David's I always felt he was a bit pricey. I have rented from 2 other people and had fantastic experiences. Now, I am an owner but if I wasn't I would rent again in a heartbeat.

We are owners and have rented points 3 different times from other members. It takes a leap of faith to rent from strangers but remember that it takes that same leap of faith for owners to rent to strangers. That's why there are usually no refunds.

Our 1st experience was because an owner found herself unable to use her points that she forgot to bank. So she rented them to someone who backed out. Still time to rent so she found another renter who wanted to switch resorts which the owner was able to do. That renter backed out too so the owner advertised the confirmed reservation at a very attractive price since her points were about to expire. It worked out for both of us but I was very nervous about the whole process.

We have rented from others since then with good experiences. If you are really worried about it David's has a great reputation and comes highly recommended. Good Luck!

The biggest issue isn't trusting strangers - the biggest issue is understanding what you are getting and what will and won't be possible. You should assume any reservation made is non-refundable and you won't be able to change it. That includes moving it by a few days - even if its the same number of points - or switching resorts - even if its the same number of points. The person you rent from is an individual - they'll need to make things like Dining Plan reservations with you - and if you decide to add them last minute, or make last minute changes, and they are off on a cruise ship, you'll be out of luck - they aren't reachable. There are things that are just different about staying in a timeshare - views in general aren't great, rooms are sometimes a little shabbier than on the cash side. A studio will have a queen bed and a full pullout.

We rented from ************** and had a wonderful experience!! Lindsey answered all our questions quickly. We had no problems and stayed at BWV in March.

I've rented and referred friends to rent from the Dis Board, always worked out great. Is it a bit of faith? Yes. But, I think if they going though a service like PayPal, etc. It helps establish some trust on both sides.

Yes used David's them recently. Very professional and quick to respond by email or phone to all of my questions. Very efficient.

We have rented from davids before buying dvc and it went very smooth for us. I know it was a bit pricier than the boards but being the first time we ever rented points before we felt a bit more secure. If we run out of points for an upcoming trip (which will probably happen), I'd probably use davids again because it was so easy.

I rented from David's and it was seamless and easy. The obvious downfall is you are committed. No changes, no refunds, period end of story.

you can rent from an individual owner if you want to save money, you just need to be sure you are comfortable, get the confirm and get their contact information. It is easy enough. If you want to not be concerned then rent from david but it will cost more but worth it if you are concerned.
