In Nov, we're meeting friends to celebrate my husband's birthday and I would love to surprise him with a convertible.

Has anyone rented a convertible at MCO? Any idea what kind of cars they have? Big enough for four adults?

Many thanks
Susan

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I do recall seeing (convertable) Chrysler Sebrings available.

I know that National and Dollar had both Sebrings and Pt Cruiser convertibles in May. The Sebrings were the bigger of the two.

As a convertable owner (Sebring Limited), I found the rental convertables to be so stripped down and bland that for us it was not worth the extra $$$ (and this was before I was even an owner)....FYI it was a sebring from Dollar on had 10k miles on it and it was like it had been through the war.

My experience has been with Dollar and both times I got a brand new Chrysler Sebring, less than 1000 miles on them. For me,with the wind blowing thru my hair on the way to WDW with the top down, I have no idea whether they were stripped down models.

Thank you so much for the good information. Is a Sebring large enough for four adults? We live in Minnesota with almost no opportunity to drive convertibles, and would love to try it if its large enough.

We are renting a conv. for the first time next month-hope it is a Sebring (don't like PT Cruisers). We are four adults as well and there is no way all of us Plus luggage would fit-so we are taking a limo from MCO and renting from National at the Dolphin-rate is almost exactly $100 more for 10 days than a full size vehicle but we are also doing it for the fun (Daytona Beach in a convertible! Alright!)

DH and I rented a convertible from Dollar one time. It was a Seabring. I loved it. The only problem was the trunk was sooooo small, our regular sized large suitcase wouldn't fit in it. We had to put it in the back seat. The valet at the WL wouldn't believe us, and he had to try to get it in the trunk. Didn't work for him either!

I think the back seat might be a little snug for two people, leg wise, but four people could fit in it.

I have seen the convertible for about $40/day with codes.

mom_rules - that's a great idea to take a limo and then rent at the Dolphin.

dizneycc - what codes did you see for $40/day? I'd sure like to use those! What I've been able to find so far is around $60/day.

Susan

Our rental from National-Dolphin works out to about $36 a day (all fees and taxes etc.) Total is $320.25 using Continental FF contract ID (20%) and $20 Ent coupon.

MNSusan-what are your dates?

I ran a 1 wk conv from National-Dolphin Nov 13-20
total incl taxes is $264.43 ($37.78/day) using same codes as above. ($82.63 total savings)

Full Size was $194.91

mom_rules - our dates are Nov 15-20 - maybe we'll see you!

I don't have Continental FF or a $20 coupon. Is the coupon from a book? - maybe I can borrow one from a relative. I do have Northwest FF and they're affiliated with Continential, so maybe something would work there, too.

The MAG code from mousesavers for Dollar would give me $240 for five days, incl tax & fees = $48/day. I'd love to get it down a little more.

We have reservations for Oct 7-11 through Budget for a Mustang convertible....this is our first time renting a convertible..... I'm hoping that my kids will enjoy it......... ;) (it's a surprise right now, I will try and remember to post here my experience when I get back.....

A few years ago, we lucked out and got a Chrysler Sebring convertible from EA. It was a fun week, driving around with the roof down. As a result, when DH was ready to replace his car a couple of years ago, we bought a Sebring convertible. We still love the car, and four people can fit. Our six-foot plus boys are cramped in the back seat, but they still don't hesitate to get back there :p !

Go to a new car dealer and take a look at the trunk. The adults in the back seat will be a little cramped AND the trunk will be a tight fit.

I think the Sebring will be big enough for four people, but I'm not sure about luggage! If you all pack lightly you may be able to fit. We had a Sebring in Hawaii and we were able to fit 2 adults and 1 child in it easily. I had a Mustang in Florida once and it was very cramped!

Thanks for all the great input!! The women have volunteered to sit in the back and allow the guys the front seats. Its not that we're all *that* petite (well, we used to be, but that's another story). but figure we'll win out in the end cuz they'll be so indebted to us!

As far as the luggage goes... the other couple is coming as a surprise to my husband for his birthday. They've decided to take a taxi to AKL and surprise him there. So we'll pick up the convertible (another surprise for DH), head to AKL where our friends will be waiting for us. We pack lightly, so that shouldn't be a problem. And the other couple leaves a day before we do, so hopefully taking them and their luggage to the airport won't leave us too squished.

Great idea to go to a dealer and look at one, lewisc!!

mom_rules - I didn't receive an email.

MNSusan-just sent another-did you get this one?

We rented a Sebring a few years back and had a blast! I love convertibles, but cannot justify buying one living in PA. But we really enjoyed it while it lasted!

One note - the trunk was pretty small.....with a loaded car and a grocery stop, it was a challenge. Otherwise, great!
