Anyone recently stay at AS-Sports?

I'm sorry to hear about your bad stay at Sports. However, I've heard bad things about it from other people, so you're not alone. I just know I'll never stay there! :)

Hmmm... I'm getting concerned. I've never stayed on site before & we decided to do so for free dining. I had 7 days at Movies booked but then decided we could go for an extra 2 days & the only thing they had opened was Sports. After much thought, I took it. I've since called back & tried to get moved but becuase I'm doing the free dining they really have NO rooms anywhere for my dates.

We arrive Aug 31st & we know the pool will be closed the entire time we're there but we're gonna hang out at the water parks a lot & have our own pool so it isn't that big of a deal. But I have a baby who will sleep between dh & I and it'll be a huge deal if we don't sleep for 9 days! Also, I'll have a 6 month old who very well may be scooting if not creeping, crawling. I just can't have disgusting carpets.

I'm really not that picky in general, but sleep & not getting ill are always priorities.

Any advice? There are no moderates or values left & we can't afford above that. How can I be guaraunteed a refurbished room? Should I request it now? I have a request in for Baseball rooms as they are closest to Music & I thought we might pop over to their pools to swim.

HELP!!! This is our first nuclear family only trip & we are very excited & I don't want the rooms to ruin it! It's also the first time dh has talked me into not renting a car & using the bus system.

Just adding the baby & the 6 month old are the same person. Sorry I made that confusing. lol! She will be both sleeping with me & creeping. THe other 2 kids are 5 & 6.

Seriously don't listen to all the things that you read. I know that people have had really bad experiences here but like I said when we stayed there last year it was fine.. We asked to be further from the pools due to the fact of noise so I would just call them and ask a couple of days ahead of your ressie that you be put into a quietier place and I know that they will be more than happy to help. If there becomes a problem then I would call and complain to the front desk.

I hope puts your mind at ease. Just have a wonderful vacation. Remember to do a TR when you get back with Pictures please.:cool1: :goodvibes

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests have found that a fan or a white noise machine helps them get a better nights sleep.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

Have fun at Disney!

Spicey.... if you can change... change!!! If not, be sure to get a refurb room .. if they have any by then....they should! I am staying at Pop in Sept. When are you going? I will be there 9/13-16th.. just a weeked for me that trip.

Looks like we are going to miss you. a few of us girls have a ressie 9/6-9/9 for a Mickey Quickie :thumbsup2

OP, Sorry about your stay at ASSports. Sounds like a real bummer. I have never stayed at an All Star resort.

We arrive Aug 31st & we know the pool will be closed the entire time we're there but we're gonna hang out at the water parks a lot & have our own pool so it isn't that big of a deal.

Ignore my question below - I found the answer. But still would like to know how far it is from the Surf Preferred section to the other All Star Movies and Music resort pools. It is as close as walking from Pop 50s to Pop 90s for example, or much farther. Actually, since the Grand Slam pool is open, maybe it won't be so bad???

"All-Star Sports Resort - Surfboard Bay Pool & Kiddie Pool closed for rehab August 27 - September 13, 2007.
For Guest convenience, the Grand Slam Pool will remain open. Guests can also take advantage of the four other pools offered at Disney's All-Star Music Resort and Disney's All-Star Movies Resort."

Hi,
Sorry for being in the dark, do you mean that the pool at ASSports is closed? Will it be closed between 8/26 and 9/1? If so, how far of a treck is it over to the next pool from the Surf preferred section of ASSports? Thanks a bunch, tink

the Movie pool is closed not sports.

boy was I wrong
All star movie
Duck Pond Pool closed for refurbishment from 5/14 - 5/31. The Fanasia pool will remain open and guests can also use the pools at the two other All Star Resorts
Disney All Star Sports -
Surfboard Pool and Kiddie Pool closed for refurbishment from 8/27 - 9/13. The Grand Slam pool will remain open and guests can also use the pool at the two other All Star Resorts.

Now I'm scared....:scared1: We are staying at All Star Sports in Sept. We were there 2 years ago and our room seemed very clean and new. Hopefully it will be like that again. :confused3

My understanding from other posts is it is about a 10 minute walk from Baseball ASSp to the main pool at ASMu. To get from Basketball ASSp (the furthest building) to the furthest ASMo pool is a 45 minute walk. Personally, I've never been to any of these places, I've just been reading other's reports & that seems to be the consensus.

Thank you for the helpful information, estherhead. I have never stayed at an All Star, but am trying to decide between early Aug and late Aug and ASSports preferred was the only value that was available online for my time frame in late Aug. I am thinking it might not be too cool to pay preferred and have the main surf pool closed since DGS is such a pool nut and swimming each day is a big part of the vacation. I suppose preferred is close to the food court and buses, but this pool thing is a bit of a bummer. I may just skip the free dining and go in early August to stay some place else, especially when I come across threads like this. I must say I was happy at Pop, but that was during a slow time. This is different.

ps. estherhead, I was also a bit worried that ASSports did not have its own "fan club" thread, so I see you started one. That makes me feel better. :)

GF and I just returned (a week ago) from staying at ASSp. The room was very clean and seemed in good order. Our room number was something like 7328... football building, 3rd floor, facing the back. Everything was great for our stay.

it was repainted and perfect .nothing wrong at all.. outside and inside!!so get it right !budd have a good day!!!!!

I called Disney to see when the All Star Sports Pool is closed. I couldn't find my posting, so I can't remember when they close it - sometime mid August, but I know it reopens september 14th.

Surf and kiddie pools closed 8/27 - 9/13, to reopen on 9/14. Baseball pool is open, though. Talked to them today and posted in another thread.

It has been a few years since we stayed at Sports, but we wont be back. The food court was filthy!!

I'm in the middle of a week stay at ASSpo right now, second floor building 9 (baseball) corner room facing the pool. We have been nothing but pleased. Clean room, not too noisy even thought it IS by the pool, and clean grounds. this morning I saw CMs cleaning the walkway and I saw another painting. We came back to the room mid-day Monday and all the grass in the "outfield" of the pool was gone! By today mid-day it had been re-sodded. Yes, you can hear the toilets flush occasionally, but not any more than in any comparably sized or priced hotel elsewhere. Yes there is more kid-related noise and sometimes dirt, but that is to be expected if you stay at a value where families with kids tend to stay. I have previously stayed at ASMo and find both to be equally enjoyable.

Poohbear67, while not listening may be good advise, but I provided pictures, how can you say for someone not to worry. This is happening and I am not the only one it is happening to! I would advise her to worry especially with a 6 month old creeping on the floor! She does need to be sure she gets a refurb room or not stay there point blank!
