Hi. I am sorry that this is another post about dress code at signature restaurants. Believe me, I have searched and read many, but thought I needed to see if anyone who has been to Narcoossee recently could help with my decision.

I have planned a dinner to celebrate dh 50th birthday at Narcoossee. He does not know about it yet! We have never been and thought it might be a nice treat since we love to visit the GF. We are staying at the BCV and will take the bus/monorail to the GF for dinner, but then plan to go to MK for EMH until 2am, if we make it. LOL!

This is my dilemma: I love dressing in a skirt or dress for a nice dinner and dh and ds (almost 19) have no problem wearing dockers, polos (or a dress shirt), and dress shoes occasionally when we go to a nicer dinner. However, since we are planning on going to MK afterwards and it will be very warm, I am not sure if this was the right decision. Let me add, we are flying and dh really likes to try to pack as light as we can (we have a washer/dryer in our room) and will not be happy if I pack dress shoes for all three of us. I bought DH a nice pair of dressier shorts, but he would need to wear sneakers with these as he does not own any other shoe but sneakers, water shoes, and a pair of dress shoes (which would look strange with the shorts.) Is that ok? DS only has cargo shorts, but would be willing to wear docker slacks if I pack them, but again will have to have dress shoes for the dockers and then will not be comfortable in the parks later.

I would appreciate anyone's comments or thoughts as this is driving me crazy for the last few days and I will be starting to pack over the weekend. For those of you that enjoy dressing up for signature restaurants, personally I completely agree with you and I will probably wear a skirt and nice blouse with flat sandals (easier to pack) since we are going to the park. I am more concerned about DH and DS. I want to treat DS to a nice "birthday" dinner, but also do not want him to be uncomfortable when there are many restaurants to eat at with shorts and sneakers.

Thanks for reading this long post and I would really appreciate any comments, thoughts, advice and especially from anyone who may have eaten at Narcoossee recently this summer, sharing how people were dressed. Thank you so much. :)

Dress Code Guidelines:
Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.
Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.

Doesn't say anything about shoes, so I'd just assume as long as the shoes go with the clothing choice allowed, it'd be okay.

Could you just bring some clothes to change into in a bag and stow it in a locker at MK?

I apologize if you've already looked up that dress code info, but I thought I'd post it just in case.

I found that people dress didn't dress up for Narcoossee as much as say Citricos. People were pretty casual, alot of the guys wore collared shirt with shorts and sandals or running shoes. I am sure you will be fine no matter what you choose.

We were just there in July. My DH wore nice shorts, a polo and sperry boat shoes. My DS20 wore the same with sneakers. DD and I wore sundresses and nice flip flops. People were dressed nicely, but casually.

I was at Narcoosee last Dec. Cargo shorts, docker and golf shirt will be fine.

We dined at Narcooses in June. I saw men and young men with nice collared shirts and Polo shirts with shorts. I noticed both sneakers and even nicer flip flops as their shoes. There were also people really dressed up. I say to go ahead and have them dress comfortably so they can enjoy the evening at MK afterwards. They won't be the only ones in shorts.

Yes, I think a nice pair of Dockers shorts matched with a polo shirt would go great. Something like topsiders would be optimal shoes to go with that, but to be honest I think Narcoosee's has the most casual atmosphere of any signature restaurant (outside the parks) and sneakers will be ok if they aren't too ratty.

Thanks you so much for your quick replies. I feel a little better. ;)

wcpamotm: Yes, I know topsiders would be so much better with the shorts than sneakers. However, as I said, neither dh or ds wear sandals or topsiders/Sperry boat shoes, etc. I know my son's sneakers are brand new and I believe DH has some cleaner looking ones too.

Thanks again. :)

Just concentrate on the "not permitted" items.
Virtually anything else goes.
And tennis shoes will be just fine...

We were there this past November for our 25th anniversary. We had just taken some family photos on the beach of the GF and were all in dark jeans and white tops. My girls wore nicer flip flops and my DH wore loafers. While there, we did see a couple of folks with sneakers but they had nicer shorts and polo type shirts.

Nice casual will work just fine. We were there in June and I wore a nice polo and shorts with sneakers. There are very few restaurants in Disney, or even Florida, where that would not be acceptable.

The outfits you described will be just fine for Narcoossee's. Even when the dress code stipulated collared shirts and dress shoes, people still came in wearing t-shirts and sneakers. It's one of the more casual signature restaurants. You won't feel under-dressed there.

We've never seen anyone "dressed up" at Narcoossee's. My DH wears a polo shirt and jeans or cotten pants. Sneakers are fine. I just wear capris and dressy top. But I usually wear sneakers ;) DD wears a dress :thumbsup2

Thank you to all the recent posters. I do feel much better now. Believe me, if we were not flying and it was not so warm out and going to the park afterwards, I would def. have my dh and ds not wear shorts/sneakers.

Again, I appreciate all of you taking the time to share personal experiences and knowledge of that particular restaurant to ease my mind. Thanks. :)

Sneakers are not against the dress code. Nor does it say anything about the cleanliness of the sneakers.

Shorts are not either, as long as they are not cutoffs.

The dress code doesn't say anything about the cleanliness of anything, but would you really want to wear dirty clothes out to a signature restaurant? Wait, I know... there are those who don't mind doing anything unless there is a specific rule prohibiting it - and a portion of those who would still push things.

Anyway, the word I used ("ratty") refers more to the state of wear than the state of cleanliness of an item. Heavily scuffed, perhaps fraying at the seams. And I suppose it could be argued whether that's against the letter of the dress code, but I think much less an argument about violating the spirit ("no torn clothing").

OP, I think you'll do just fine with exactly what you have mentioned!

We have been to Narcosseess many times and you shouldn't worry at all about taking special shoes etc. The range of attire at all the signature restaurants (with the exception of V&A's) can be great. There will be some people very dressed up, but the norm is nice casual attire. A collared polo shirt, cargo shorts and sneakers is absolutely acceptable for your son, or your husband. Just avoid what they say is unacceptable and relax and have a great time.

We rarely, if ever, see anyone dressed up at the signature restaurants anymore (V&A being the exception of course). Park wear (other than cut-offs and tank tops for men) is fine. Cargo shorts, flip flops, tennis shoes, t-shirts (without offensive pictures or sayings) are all fine. Swim suits are not (supposedly), but we saw a woman in a she-devil costume at Citricos (it was a MNSSHP night). A swimsuit would have covered more than her costume did!

So, relax and enjoy your dinner.
