Anyone received mail about DVC & Exchanges?

I received a envelope from DVC today with a folder inside that looked like an oversized blue passport. The blue folder explained the way vacation exchanges are made. The envelope also advertised that new 2003 point charts for Interval International were inside. However no point charts were included.
Apparently DVC forgot to include everything in the envelope they mailed me. Did anyone else actually get the point charts? Thanks.

Bob - check the first page of that blue folder - the points are listed there. There aren't any dates listed, just "seasons", so I guess you have to call for more info.

I guess I am going blind. You are right the point are on the first page. Only two lines make up the whole chart.

I just opened mine up and I am glad to have this info on hand.

What would be the advantage of assigning my points to Worldpassport prior to having a reservation?

We got this in the mail today also.

So 124 points exchange in Low Season for a one bedroom? Is this different than in the past?

I never knew what the point costs were for exchanging into Interval Int. Maybe someone that has made exchanges in the past could give a history. There is a gentleman named Dean on this board that is very knowledgeable regarding non-DVC timeshares and trading. Maybe he will notice this post.

This new program was initiated by DVC to remove some of the barriers to member's wanting to exchange.

In the past, there was no point chart- each exchange was researched separately and negotiated with II. MS did not know the point cost until after that process had completed. This proved to be a frustration for many of us who want to know what it will "cost" in advance.

The new system certainly removes the uncertainty, but the trade-off is that some exchanges may now be a little higher than before and others will be a little lower than before. They have evened out the "costs" in order to provide a listing like this.

In addition, no studio listings are included in the new chart, but they are still available- so ask if you are interested. (Some have travelled to Hawaii for 55 points for a week in a studio in the past.)

The only variable still remaining is the "seasons" for the point levels. This will vary by resort a little based on the most popular, least popular and middle popularity of the resort demand.

The program is really not that much different from before in many ways. The only difference for the exchange itself is that you will know exactly how many points up front any specific exchange will be though in many cases this will be at more points than before. There are some behind the scenes changes that could affect member availability of DVC resorts in a negative way but hopefully this won't happen.

A good rule of thumb for exchanges before was HH or OKW adventure for non peak season and OKW Dream season for peak exchanges. That means that studios almost doubled under the new system, 1 BR went down a little and 2 BR stayed pretty close or went up slightly.

We have never used the World Passport exchange but we have used the Concierge Collection many times. I think we were a little intimidated by the unknowns associated with that type of exchange. We were able to see from a point chart what we were trying to do in the CC before we did it so it was a little more comfortable to us. These point values are actually very good compared to what we've been spending on CC locations. I'm very pleased that the mystery has been revealed to us and I think we'll take the plunge and have the courage to expand our vacation options with this info.
