I bought Beach Club, 100 points, last year. We had the goal to replace our hotel stays with an annual weeklong BCV studio stay for our family of four. We loved the hotel stay and figured we'd love BCV too! 100 points was perfect.
I sheepishly told my mom about our new purchase after we were in ROFR, and she guilt tripped me, as she said she also wanted to come along! And she offered to help pay for almost 70% of a second contract. Well, shoot. 100 points at Beach Club just wouldn't be enough after all.
After a few weeks of obsessive Excel sheet math and
DVC resort research, I offered on a Bay Lake Tower 160 point contract in the same use year. Mind you, this is still before we've passed ROFR on our first contract.
I knew 260 points was a good start, but not quite enough in total. I wanted 50 more so that we could reliably bring along my mom every year. I took a circuitous route to get there, and bought 50 at AKV (because it was all I could find in my use year at a reasonable price), but then divested of this and purchased 50 more at Bay Lake when a contract showed up in my use year.
We're at 310 now: 100 at BCV, 210 at BLT, and I think that number is just perfect for a variety of types of weeklong stays at those resorts in our preferred season of winter (1 bedroom at BLT, studio at BCV, or 2 bedroom at BLT or BCV). I don't see adding on more points now unless I changed home resorts and the
point chart required it of me.
*Embarassing point here: we have yet to stay at BLT. I don't even have a trip booked there yet. I know we'll get there eventually, but we really like Beach Club, and there were a few things we wanted to try too, like AKV Savannah view, Polynesian, and eventually Aulani. Maybe we'll finally do BLT in 2028? (2027 sounds like we may be taking an international non Disney trip)
