Anyone planning to watch "United 93"?

The problem is is that no one knows the truth for sure. Pieced together information and subjecture. For all we know this plane could have been shot down.

just remember the movie is "based on a true story" with great liberties taken to fill in the obvious blanks of the whole situation. Any why wouldnt the families like the movie if their familiy members are portrayed as heroes and if the families stand to make money from the movie.

You're right it should be a Michael Moore half truth documentary. :rolleyes1

Totally uncalled for, who said anything about Michael Moore? He is far from the only documentary maker out there.

I have no interest in ever watching any movie about that day. Even though I was fortunate enough to not have lost anyone that day I cannot imagine the agony this brings up for people who did. I would hope that any money made from such a project is dontated to a charity.

I watched the A&E version. Didn't have a big impact on me. Usually I can lose myself in a movie and get caught up in the story or the characters. But not in that one. It was so obviously actors, and not nearly as dramatic as the day itself.

I'm not against war movies per se. I like lots of the WWII movies. But we know the outcome there...and we won. This is just too fresh, and unfinished. :(

I'm not watching another one.

A portion of the proceeds are going for a Flight 93 memorial.

I would be more hesitant to see it had the families been against the making. However, everything I have seen indicates that all the Flight 93 families are backing it. I think it is amazing how hard they have tried to make this movie as true as can be. They even hired real flight attendants and pilots that work for the airlines. I saw last night where one of the actors went to visit the family of the person he is portraying. He burst into tears when he met them; I think these actors really feel the pressure to do justice to these peoples lives.

I feel as if this movie is coming too soon. I have not forgotten what happened that day, and will not any time soon. I understand that a portion of the profits will be given to the memorial for those who died on United 93, but still there is a large profit that will be coming to the production company. Many forms of entertainment are produced for one reason, for a profit. Will we never know everything that happened that day, though what we do supposedly know, we are told, much as with everything else in life. This movie is simply one version of what happened that dreadful day to United flight 93. Are there other possibilities? I believe there are. The story of the men storming the cabin and trying to retake the plane is a wonderful story, possibly even the truth. But do we really know for sure? Just my two cents.

No. I got chills watching the previews. I don't want to relive that day.

Same here. If I see the preview start on TV again, I'm changing the channel. The preview alone was too much. I remember the day well.

No.

The trailer has even been pulled from all theaters here in NYC. It was upsetting the customers.

Most of us here in NYC lived that day - no need to go to the theater and do it again. Even if we weren't in the Towers (and I was in mid-town), it was still terrifying. I remember it clearly. I remember the next morning riding the bus through Times Square at 8 AM and seeing NO ONE on the streets. That NEVER happens. Even at 4 AM Times Square is hopping. I remember staying on a couch that night, unable to get out to my parents in NJ - and for most of the day not being able to get them on the phone at all to reassure them I was ok. I remember the burning smells and the ash all over the place. The guns and the Army. Ground Zero before it became a tourist attraction and was an eerie, hole in the ground.

That being said, I am sure there are some people in NYC who will want to see it. I just don't know any.

What an insensitive comment to make.. I wonder if the families of the heroes would rather have the MONEY or have their family members back with a NON-hero status? :sad2:

When it becomes available for home viewing - yes - I'll watch it.. Many, many people haven't "forgot" and never will - but sadly there are those who have (or at the very least pretend it never happened as if that will some way ward off future attacks).. History tends to repeat itself and the more that is learned about the past, the better we can prepare for the future..

Painful for sure - but a strictly personal decision for many..
