I was needing to take my infant daughters Boppy pillow to Disney (she sleeps in it) and was wondering about using the space saver bags that you vaccum the air out of. Has anyone done this before (staying on property)? I was wondering since you have to have access to a vaccum to get the air out for our return trip home. I didnt know if the mousekeepers would let me use a vaccum to do this or not. Otherwise, I dont know how to get the boppy pillow down as it would take up a lot of suitcase room. Thanks

I used them to pack our clothes on our way to Arizona, not thinking about the vacuum on the other end..it was a nightmare. UGH!! Some hotels don't have the hose attachments on the vacuums though...

I've been using them everytime I fly since my DD spent a semester in London. I had to pack her for 3 fall months in one large suitcase! I got all of her clothes as well as 2 bed pillows and towels in that suitcase! I use the bags that roll the air out. I've gotten some at Walmart in the travel section and also from QVC. You won't need a vacuum. I use them for WDW and have lots of extra room for souvenirs!:thumbsup2

You are sure that I wont need a vaccum? I was looking at them at JC Penney (they were on sale for $19.99 under the section "as seen on tv"). It said on the box that you use a vacuum to pull out the air. Do you think I could smush down a boppy pillow enough to get it in the suitcase and be flat? Thanks for the help.

Some bags are designed for vacuuming only but there are others designed for packing, not just storage, that roll out the air. As my DD is 23 I'm not familiar with a Boppy pillow in particular but I can get a bed pillow and a stuffed animal flat with these bags. QVC.com is a good place to browse for the right kind of bag. Either online or in Walmart, etc just read for which kind they are. They have a one way valve that lets air out but not back in unless you unzip it. There is no cap like the vacuum type.

I have used the ones from wal mart before and am using them on our trip this month. The boppy is already in it's bag. I just smash it as flat as I can get it and then roll it. Works fine!

I used them on our trip in April. Loved them! the air just rolled out, and I got ours at Wal-mart. I fit four standard pillows in our suitcase in one bag! LOL! I definitely would try it.:thumbsup2

In the camping section at Walmart you can buy a pump that you can reverse to vaccuum. It is small, maybe 5"X5", and weighs very little. I bought one for about $4.99. I keep it with my suitcases because I bring it with me whenever I go on vacation along with an air mattress the spacesaver bags and some pool toys. It saves me having to blow everything up or down.
I travel with my sons who won't sleep in the same bed, so one gets the bed and one gets the air mattress.
One year I had a 2 bedroom at my DVC and my son complained about his brother's snoring in their room with 2 beds. He wound up on the air mattress in the laundry room and was very comfortable there.

I have used the travel kind (no vacuum needed) since just after 9/11. I watched security go through my bags during a routine check and vowed to never have my undies pawed again!:lmao: I put a days worth of clothes-mine, DH & DS in each bag. Makes getting dressed in the morning a snap! I find that sitting on the bags on a hard surface gets them extra flat. Be careful about overloading the weight on big bags though. I can easily get 60 or 70 lbs in our medium size suitcase with these things.

We got some from walmart that you roll the air out and they worked great! We used them to roll our beach towels up. I don't know how it would work with a boppy, but it would be worth a try!

Thanks everyone. Guess I will check into the rolling type some more or the pump at Walmart. I have a coupon at Penneys, and can get them for about $5 is the reason I wanted to get those.

I got the rolling type at target for our last trip. It fit all of my ds,dd, and all my stuff in one suitcase. It worked great. :thumbsup2

If you use these with clothes do the clothes come out all wrinkled? Just wondering in case I use the extra ones for our clothes. Thanks

Sounds like an interesting topic, I am also wondering how wrinkled your clothes get.

Another here with the wrinkle question. I've always avoided them for this reason, but maybe I'm wrong. Input?

DBF and I use the rolling type spacesaver bags for camping and vacations...we also got some X-Large Ziploc storage bags which work almost as well and fit more stuff. We've never really had any issues with wrinkles-I think it has something to do with the vacuum that's created when you smoosh all the air out???:confused3 (it's physics-something I'm not very good at) I just fold our stuff and put it in the bags as neatly as possible and take it out as soon as we get to the hotel to hang it up (but I always bring a travel bottle of Downy wrinkle release just in case!). We love using them...they make packing so easy, especially for long trips!

the role ones are wonderful. I packed 8 days worth of clothing into a cheap walmart suitcase that could be used as a carry on. This included: Body stuff, a pillow and a teddy bear

OP- you said this was for a Boppy pillow for WDW right? i dont see how the roll type bags would work with the boppy (at least not very well) If you are staying onsite why not call over there and see if they have a vaccum with hose attatchment? if they do i am sure thye would let you borrow it for this purpose.

I use the travel bags all the time. One time when we had a connecting flight it was raining at the airport where we had the layover (and I mean really pouring). Apparently our luggage was sitting out in the rain when being transferred. The luggage got soaked but because I had everything in bags the clothes did not. Boy was I glad I used them.
