Please share your experiences and likes/dislikes with us. DH needs a new car and fell in love with the PT Cruiser we rented last summer in Orlando, so we are thinking about purchasing one soon.

Thanks! :D

The ONLY bones to pick we have about our cruiser is that the engine COULD be a bit stronger, but I believe that problem no longer exists, from what I'm hearing.

Also, on our early model, we don't have an armrest for the passenger side. :(

Oh well, I just lean over and use the drivers/hubby's side! LOL

We really truly love our vehicle. We frequently carry elderly guests in our car and the ease of entry and exit for them has been great. We ALL appreciate that aspect quite a bit.

DS LOVES his Cruiser...easy to manuever, easy to park. I own a 300M (02) and I look for any excuse to borrow Ds's PT! :)

We just got back from our WDW trip, and ended up with a PT Cruiser! When we were at the rental car desk, the agent asked us if we'd be interested in upgrading from an intermediate to the PT Cruiser for an extra $10 a day. We declined.

When we were told what aisle to get our car from, when we got there, it was the PT Cruiser anyway! He gave us a free upgrade!

Anyway....I really liked being the passenger (I didn't drive it!) It seemed to have plenty of power for me, and it handled corners very well!

I'd love to own one! But DH isn't that fond of them.

No, we heat our house with magic but our Cruiser runs on steam! :p ;)
Thanks for asking. :jester:

My mom's got a Turbo PT and we all love it! Dad likes to put it through the paces when we get on the freeway and he's very happy with it's power. I drove it over the grapevine a while back and that thing hauled over the hill with no problem at all. Lots of space, good handling, easy to drive - as much as I didn't like the looks of them before we got one, I have to say I do love when I get the chance to drive it. And boy, does it make people jealous!:D

A friend has had one for a couple years now. She LOVES it and won't drive anything else.

I rented one last year for a trip to VA from Boston. Although I think it is a great car for local driving, it was not very comfortable for a long ride. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and enough clothes for a weekend stay. We felt very crowded. Didn't find it had enough power to merge on the highway but once you get up to speed it seems fine. Seats weren't that comfortable either for a long drive.

This is the same as ours. My DH's only other complaint is that the breaks seem to be noisy. A friend of ours had a Neon and she said hers were always like that so maybe it's a Chrysler thing?

There's just 2 of us and we love being able to flip down the seats and throw all our crap in the back.:D

My Mom has one. She loves it.

I can't believe how roomy it is. I think it has done very well in crash tests, too.

The brake issue may just be a Chrysler thing. They are also noisy on our Jeep-even brand new.

One note:I think the PT Cruisers are great for getting car seats in and out.

It's basically a Neon with a different shell.
We rented one while in FL one yr and I enjoyed driving it. The "trunk" area isn't that big if you have some stuff in there.

Actually, at the time we bought our vehicle, they weren't really doing too well in the crash tests, but they weren't at the bottom of the list either, so we didn't worry a WHOLE lot about it.

As far as JohnTBap said, they DO resemble a little hearse somewhat, and we've heard that from a lot of people. LOL

Interesting side note, a year before the PT Cruiser came out on the market, we were seeing them up in our neck of the region. We found out that Chrysler was using a near by frozen lake to test winter, snow and ice handling conditions! We went out to watch the tests one day, and it was great fun to watch the vehicles mocked up with flags, paint and other odd body markings.

As far as liking how they look...I don't think there's a lot of inbetween. Ya either love 'em or ya hate 'em. LOL

PT Cruiser are in the top 10 least expensive car to insure. According to an article on MSN (don't have the link handy though)

I have one and they replaced my brakes about 3 months ago for free . They were making noise and I took it in to be looked at.( It is under waranty still) . Did you also knwo that they come and unlock your car for free if you lock your keys in it ?
I was in a accident about 1 yr ago it held up well . I was hit from behind by a lady driving a small SUV , she was going 60mph and I was going about 20 exiting the freeway. I had 2 passengers and other then bumps and bruises for them it was not to bad. I messed up my shoulder trying to keep the car from flying back into the freeway and oncoming traffic. I have had some things go wrong here and there and they have fixed all of them . If I could change 2 things it would be 1. The engine ( mine is a 01 no Turbo for us ) 2. The arm rest thing is a pain.

It is a great car for gas and room though .When I bought mine there were 4 other ladies on my end of the street that wanted them . Guess what we all got one , we all love them and we all have a different color !

Thanks for all of the replies!

That's good to know.

Hmm...I didn't know that. Maybe we should consider something else? I haven't heard many good things about Neons!

Don't listen to what they say about Neons. I have a '02 Neon which I totally totally dig.:teeth:

DH and I couldn't afford payments on his tres' expensive Pontiac convertible back in Jan of this year (I lost my job and so less money was coming in) and traded it in for an 01 (I think..might be 02..I dunno..it's HIS car) Cruiser. Now me...I hate the things. I don't like the reto-y hearse look to it and everything about the car inside and out makes me wanna gag myself with a Micky-shaped spoon. But DH loves it. He can bring home stuff in the backseat/trunk that he wasn't able to before (like boards for the deck) and he loves to drive it. As long as he's happy, I'm happy. I don't have to drive the thing.:teeth:

Our insurance company classifies it as a station wagon. DH's '01 PT was only like $5 or $10 more a month to insure than his old '92 Pontiac Sunbird.

<SIZE=3>I got my PT in April of this year and I love it! Mine is Onyx Green. It's fun to drive, handles easy, good gas mileage (our gas prices here are going up!) and theres plenty of room for the grandkids. Even my Dad , a strict Ford man likes it.</SIZE>
