Someone mentioned having Disney put decorations up in the room....Has anyone ever ordered the Bon Voyage decorations before?? If so, was it worth it??

Thanks!

Ordered them for our 9/28 cruise to be put up in our grandson's room. When my daughter and son-in-law opened the door to their room, the price of the decorations was worth its weight in gold!!!! I'll never forget it. order them, they make the cruise special.

That's all I needed to hear! Thanks so much! I'm off to order 'em now!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I am considering doing this for my parent's cabin next month. Were they put up by DCL, or did someone else have to sneak in and do it?

Thanks.

My DD ordered the birthday package as a surprise for me once. They were up in the room when I arrived. :)

:cool1: Has anyone ordered gift baskets from Shirley? I've seen her name on this site numerous times in regards to gift baskets. I want to have something waiting in the stateroom for my DH (it will be our 10th Wedding Anniversary) and for our three children (DS6 DD4 DS1). This will be our first cruise of any kind and I want it all to be magical and full of surprises for them. pixiedust:

I just ordered baskets from Shirley for our Oct.14th cruise for my kids. I have ordered them before in the past and she has ALWAYS done awesome baskets! Shirley and her staff are the BEST!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

We have also ordered the decorations from DCL for our last cruise. There were wonderful and were up until I had to take them down on the last night. :sad

I say go for it on both the room decorations and Shirley's!

Does someone have the "link" to Shirley? Can you post it?

It sounds like Shirley's phone has been ringing off the hook!! I just phoned this week and ordered baskets for my dds and dh! Nona helped me, and she was awesome!!

Can't wait to see them AND the surprise on my family's faces!

We did this on our very first cruise, we thought it was great. Now even better because it comes with a cake also.

:tinker: With all the positive feedback on Shirley's baskets, I will definitely have to give her a call. Initially, I was going to try and create something on my own. But, we are driving to Port Canaveral from Texas, via Disney World. I am sure the family would see the baskets ruining the surprise. Also, if I wanted to include candy for the kids it may spoil in the car. We will be at Disney World for 4 days prior to the cruise. I did already buy some cute pirate stuffed animals at the Disney Store for $4 on clearance (regular price $16). pirate: I got a Pirate Pooh for DS1, Pirate Chicken Little for DS6 and Pirate Cat from Aristocats for DD4. They are the medium size animals and adorable. :wave2:

One of the nice features of using Shirley for baskets is that she lets you send some special items that you might want to add to the basket yourself. (I am sending her waterproof watches and paperback books to put in my dds' baskets....)

Sending Shirley special items to put in the gift baskets sounds like a wonderful idea. I could send her the stuffed animals to include in the gift baskets, or rather "gift pails" for the kids. Also, I was planning on getting my DH a gift certificate for our Anniversary party: to the Texas Motor Speedway for a NASCAR training course. :car: He gets to drive an actual race car. Maybe, I could send that to Shirley to include in his basket. That would make it more "personal" to me. Thanks for the headsup on sending Shirley items to include in the baskets. :dogdance:

I have not gotten the stateroom decorations, mostly becasue we usually celebrate our anniversary and the only ones theu have woulld be "COngratulations". I am not going to congratulate myself for my anniversary.

But, I have ordered from Shirley. I just call and tell her what I want in the basket. I haven't sent anything special for the basket though.

I ordered the birthday party decorations/cake and the medium size child basket from Shirley for my son. He was so shocked and excited!
(I was so glad I ordered the birthday decorations from Disney as the jello cake we had in the dining room was horrid.)

The basket from Shirley was great! There were so many goodies in there we never had to buy treats from Preludes for the shows. The only downside was trying to find room in luggage for sand toys-which we forgot to take ashore :teeth:

I say go for it!! The pictures I took of my son opening the door to the room are my favorite of the whole cruise!!!! :thumbsup2

I ordered the decorations today! I'm excited to see the expressions on my family's faces!! :goodvibes

I also agree that Disney needs to have a Happy Anniversary package! The reason for this trip is to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and I would love to have had that option!

Wow! The room decorations sound like a great idea. Does Shirley do this to along with the baskets? Also, did anyone ever order a basket for a teenager (boy)? I have a 6 yr old girl, 8 yr old boy and a 15 yr old boy...I want them all to feel special. Also, do you think she'd put beer and wine in there to? For the adults of course?

I love this web site, you all are so awesome! :woohoo:

I ordered the decorations through DCL, but the baskets from Shirley.

I have 2 dds, so my situation was a bit different. My younger dd would love anything, but my 13 yr old would definitely not want something "babyish"! Nona (Shirley's assistant) asked me a bunch of questions to get an idea of what she might be interested in.....Besides "junk food" and drinks, she is also putting in things like a waterproof disposable camera.

I'm sure they have made many baskets for teenage boys. They will be able to help you out I'm sure!

Remember, too, that you can send her a a few items that would make the basket more personal. (If your ds doesn't already have one, then a waterproof watch would be great for him! If he has an ipod, how about an "Otterbox" to keep it safe! --Note: If you haven't heard of them before, an Otterbox is a waterproof container made to hold an ipod. It is see-through and you are able to still use the dial. It just keeps water and sand out of it! If you want, match it with waterproof earplugs, and he can even swim with it!)
