Anyone on the Sept 26, 2004 Wonder??

Since DCL hasn't put a time limit on the refund, we are riding out the weekend before we make our final decision.

My boys are asking almost every hour when we are leaving and are we still going!

Unfortunately, our trip depends on others in our family. Here's a couple of questions for those of you that have rebooked: (1) Were any of you using the Florida and/or Military discount and (2) If you were, how did your new rebooking rate compare to the Florida/Military rate of this cruise?

I would be very willing to reschedule if I could get comparable rates on a future-out of hurricane season-cruise.

Thanks guys!

after alot of switching and plan changes we are still going to sail. we are now flying into Tampa on Sunday as opposed to Orlando. There was no charge to switch airports. we booked a room in Orlando for Sunday night. My Dad lives in Fla so we can spend the day (and nightif need be) with them. Rumor has it they will close Orlando airport.(don't know for sure) We also have plans to stay at Disney for three days after the cruise. We will meet everyone after the drill. hope everyone stays safe!

We are still a go as well. I am nervous, but we will give it our best try. I have a car reserved to drive to the port so that we can leave our car at the port. When the ship docks on Thursday we will have to make a quick getaway to assure our guest makes his flight home.

All PLEASE take care and be safe.

Still hanging in there... and going to make an attempt to go! Driving out to Orlando tomorrow sometime - must be crazy!

Good luck to everyone and stay safe!

Hi everyone ~ what do you think our chances are for flying into Orlando on Monday am?

My family is burning up my phone lines with worry, crying and lectures about us still planning on sailing. I really appreciate their concern and my common sense is starting to prevail.

What to do ~~what to do???????

The projected path has it into Georgia Mon 8am. Think it just depends on what MCO is doing. Would it be possible to do an alternate airport?

I am going to call the airline and find out. We are flying Harrisburg to Philadelphia to Orlando as of now.

Thanks Lisa!

I found out this AM that my flight from Chicago O'Hare to Ft. Lauderdale for this afternoon was cancelled. I think they have closed that airport. Sad I'm not cruising, but glad I cancelled-when I spoke with my DM this morning, Jeanne was just starting to hit the coast near them.

CLC Tiger Pom Mom :cheer2:

They cancelled our flight into Tampa so now we are flying into Fort Meyers Sunday a.m. As of now we are still a go. Now just to get from Fort Meyers to the port! we will find a way. we are suppose to meet my brother and my sister and her family on the cruise. They live in Fla so not too much of a problem for them to get to the ship. We haven't seen them in over a year. So here's to prayers to keep everyone safe. hope to see as many of you on the cruise that can make it.

I picked up my brother's family from Washington D.C. I also rescheduled our flight from BWI to Ft.Lauderdale instead of Orlando. If the airport is open then we will make it to the port.

I just hated idea of 4 hour bus ride from Orlando to Ft.Lauderdale.

Hope everyone stays safe and have fun on board.

DCL has been horrible with contact and posting changes. Has anyone rec'vd a call from them? I personally have been told at least 6 different scenarios between yesterday and today regarding buses/transportation/pick-up points and times. Renting a car is looking better and better...

I am not slamming the fact that this is a MAJOR LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE and they are trying, but the changes are being made and not being passed on to us. Not a good move on DCLs part.

Surprisingly enough I have stayed calm thru the majority of this... I just wish DCL made it a little bit more worth my while... so far I have gained nothing but 40% and a few gray hairs (yes - I have mantained my sense of humor, but it's kind of dulled right now)!

. Because I am no better off than I was when I started.
GO - CANCEL - GO - CANCEL? Ughhhh!!!

Until tomorrow... it's still ???????????

Hi all! Well Jeanne is offically out of our collective hair - at least here in Tampa. It got a wee bit hairy for awhile, but with the exception of some really massive winds and mediocre flooding, we are OK. Even had power ALL DAY!! Jim has decided to go out and see what the rest of the area looks like.

I hope with all my heart that everyone else out there made it thru as well as we did and will be able to make the cruise. Please update if/when you can...

We've made our final decision and are GOING! I called DCL and made sure that everything looked good from their end and they said it did! We ended up going with a rental car - picking up near PC and parking at PC (2 CMs at DCL ensured me that the Port WILL be open for traffic and bus pick ups). So, we are starting out here about 0630 and hoping to get to PE by around 1300.

BEST OF LUCK to everyone... Drive safely! We'll all have to meet for a few drinks once on board!

Lisa: Check email.

Gottis--

Got a question for you...did DCL say how long the ship will be in PE? Last time, someone said they kept it in port until midnight.

We are coming from Cumming, GA (Atlanta). My husband wants me to ask you if you know anything about the interstates....we need to know soon so we can plan our route.....I'm trying to find out all I can from the PC and the TV.

Also, do you know how long the buses will be running from PC? Since DCL is planning on returning to PC on Thursday, we'd like to leave our car there, but I don't want to miss the bus if we get stuck in traffic down to Orlando.

Thanks!

Debbie

I'm sorry - I never asked how long the ship would wait at Port. I would think that most likely DCL would wait until all the people they were responsible for scheduling air fare and transfers for showed up... but then that is a guess. The CMs that I spoke to this morning were helpful - best suggestion is to keep calling.

Not sure what the roads are like. If you are taking I-75 here is a number to call for information (Interstate 75 : 1-800-475-0044 area covered is from Georgia state line to Florida's Turnpike entrance at Wildwood) or try http://www.dot.state.fl.us/

I did just get off the phone with my sister in Jacksonville and she said it was getting 'really nasty' up there - gusty winds and heavy rain (4:45pm).

I'm sorry that I am not much more of help to you all. I wish I could do more... please tho - whatever you decide, don't put yourself at risk. I hope it all works out for you.

Hi All-

I again called DCL to confirm info for Port Everglades:

Boarding will begin for the WONDER at 1pm.
The MAGIC boarding has changed in order to get us out first - this WILL NOT effect us (WONDER cruisers).

The CM could not give me a solid time for departure.

Port Canaveral WILL be OPEN to park vehicles.

I know some of this is repeated (and I am sorry), but I figured it would be easier to see it here than to have to search it out or call.

~Mary

Thanks Mary for the info.

I did talk to DCL, and they told me the ship would be pulling out at 7, and we'd need to be on at 6 for the boat drill.

The bad thing is that we have to take my Mom home to Pensacola, and I think I-10 is damaged from the last hurricane so we'd have to take 90 and reroute part of the way.

We are thinking it would take approx. 15 hours to get there, and I'm not sure we want to do that.

It's hard because we have a military discount for this cruise, and we could reschedule for January at the same rate but the cabin would be a BIG difference without that military discount.

So, we still haven't canceled, but who knows....can you believe the whole rest of the country has beautiful weather, but the one spot we need to be in on the EXACT day we needed to be there was a disaster?!!

Maybe I'll see ya', and maybe we won't! LOL, but thank you so much for all your help! :)

Deb

Hi everyone! I am writing from the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando. We have been having a great time. We are definately sailing tomorrow. I think we are going to pick up a rental car and park our car at Port Canaveral in the early a.m. DCL has been rather sketchy about details and we don;t want to get to the port at 5 p.m.

I hope everyone is doing well andbeing safe. The hurricane was a bit rough here. The Hard Rock has been absolutely great. Full power, great food, activities for the kids. I got some much needed rest, too. We have no power at our house in South Florida, but no real damage this time.

SEE YOU all at the port!

Deb : Sorry to hear that it's still iffy... I-10 is NO JOY on a normal trip, but in the aftermath of Ivan and possibly Jeanne - YUK! I know what you are saying about the military rate - we are taking advantage of it also. Good luck in whatever decision you make, just don't put your safety in jeopardy to make it here...

Maureen : Lisa and I were wondering how you guys were doing. We are both renting from Budget tomorrow in the Cape (will meet there and carpool to PE) and parking at the Port. Can't wait to finally got on the ship!

Until tomorrow... stay safe everyone!

~Mary

Does anyone have any idea what time the buses are scheduled to begin pick up at Port Canaveral. We just drove from NC to Jacksonville...then the storm forced us to stop....it was getting really windy on the interstate. The worst is over here. We want to get to the ship ASAP....but I'm not sure what time the buses will begin. If we drove to Port Everglades...then we would have to be bussed back to PE to get our car at the end of the cruise...then drive back to NC...way too much driving. I called DCL person and she didn't seem like she knew what she was talking about. The DCL post said that transportation would be provided up until 2pm ...but didn't say what time it would begin. Hope everyone makes it safely!!!!
