Hey all,

I am going to be applying for my masters in hospitality and tourism management at the Rosen College, and wanted to know if anyone on this forum attends this school. If so, how do you like it? How is the campus life? How are the classes?

I am currently an Undergrad student who attends Rosen. I do really enjoy going to this school, and I do live here so it make its easy to work at places, such as Disney, while attending school there. The campus is gorgeous and has about 2500 students I believe. Since I am only undergrad I can only tell you my experience in those classes. They are all very, very focused to the hospitality industry and many of the teachers had great educations and experience within the industry and know what they are talking about. The school also has many great connections with many companies not only in the Orlando area but all over, the state and the country, depending on what you plan to do. Honestly though overall I find the classes quite easy, but I am not very familiar with the graduate program. I would recommend this school though to anyone, who has any interest in the hospitality field. Any other questions just let me know, I would be happy to answer them!!

Thanks for your input. So, what year are you? Have you decided what you want to do after graduation? I will be applying for the fall most likely, as I do not think I will get my paperwork in on time for the summer. My goal is to have a career with Disney, and I think that Rosen is definitely the way to make it happen. I have an interest in the Disney institute, the Disney event group, operations, HR or wherever I can get my foot in the door. I also plan on participating in a PI at some point.

I visited the campus 5 or so months ago, and was very impressed. The people were quite friendly, and the campus had a resort feel to it, which I’m sure is what Rosen had intended. Do you live on or off campus? I have not yet decided which I am going to do. Does Disney do a lot of recruiting from this school? I would have to assume so, due to Rosen’s proximity to Disney, in addition to being tailor made for the industry.

I am senior and will be graduating in December. I am just like you with wanting a career with Disney and I have been working there since August. After I graduate in Decemeber I plan to do a PI (hopefully the operations management one but, I will probably take any one I can get). Disney does seem to do a lot of recruiting from the school but it is geared more toward resorts and food and beverage. I want to work in the parks and it seems as if those jobs are kind of limited and very competitive such as the PI. Rosen has a very good relationship with Disney and many students work. There are quite a few professors as well who have either had a career with Disney prior to teaching or they work at Disney and are adjuct professors. I have actually seen one of my professors at work before! I do live on campus currently but will have to move once I graduate. It only takes me about 10-15 minutes to get to work which is very convenient, but it depends on what park you work at. Good Luck!!:cool1:
