Anyone on Effexor?

My doctor prescribed Effexor to calm me down (which is an understatement lately). Has anyone ever been on this drug? What does it do? Side Effects?

I take effexor to help me rest and calm my nerves about my cancer. I've been on it for almost a year and find no side effects. It has also greatly reduced my hot flashes from my hysterectomy. Good luck.

Effexor is generally well-tolerated, though some patients experience nausea, mildly elevated blood pressure, insomnia, and/or jitteriness. Unlike the SSRI family of agents (Prozac,Zoloft,Paxil,Celexa), it does NOT cause sexual dysfunction; about 40% of pts. on SSRIs can experience orgasmic difficulty and/or change in libido.

I'd give it a try and simply contact your doctor if you have any side effects . Good luck........

I've been on Effexor for a little over 2 years. No side effects like they talk about-sexual dysfunction, etc. of the other ones. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I was fortunate to find the right antidepressant on the first drug they tried.

Effexor is not my friend. I've been on lots of different antidepressants, and Effexor is the only one I had constant side effects on. I twitched all the time, and had this weird tingling sensation in my feet. I was debilitated for a few days when I accidentally ran out. Not fun. I had another friend who vomited if she was a few hours late on her dose. I've heard more complaints about that one than any other I've been on, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. Good luck!
