Anyone noticed everyone getting bands as MNSSHP?

We were at MNSSHP last night and arrived at about 4.30 pm. I noticed everyone who entered was given a wristband, whereas last year our magic band was scanned again first
This concerned me, as someone behind me said "wow, freebie party", so obviously didn't have party tickets.

I mentioned my concern to a CM, who very rudely told me that everyone was scanned. I assured him this was not the case, but he kept insisting they were. I saw hundereds of people getting wristbands without being scanned

I DMd the Disney twitter page to let them know my concerns and they said they'd report it straight away.

I did see magic bands being scanned later on at the Buzz Lightyear collection location, but no idea if it changed at the main gate.

We're also at the party tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see if they're scanned then.

Just wondered if anyone else had the same experience. If so, goodness knows how many people have got in for free!

There should be two entrances one marked for the party and one marked for regular entry. So the theory would be that those handing out bands are close enough to the party turnstile that only party people come in. It is disheartening though if people are taking the bands if they know they didn't pay for the party.

Yes, this. We were at MVMCP last year and all party-goers scanned their tickets at the tapstiles on the right side of the main entrance (nearest the outside guest service/ticket windows). That area was cordoned off so that only people who scanned their party tickets or MB's that had party tickets attached were let into that cordoned off area of the entrance and given party wristbands. We then entered the park under the right side tunnel. I suspect this is what they are doing for MNSSHP as well. It keeps crowds moving and eliminates the need to scan MB's or tickets twice. There is absolutely no way non-party ticket holders could have gotten into that roped off area.

That wasn't the case last night. There was no roped off area. Everyone was able to get a wristband. Like I said, the people behind me were talking to eachother about being able to get in for free.

We had the very same thing happen last year. We went through the line just after 4pm for party goers. We were then instructed to approach CMs for a wrist band. I saw several people coming from the other side (none party goers) also getting in line for wrist bands. I also saw people who I believe were coming from inside the park. I believe the abuse is rampant, particularly with locals who know the score and understand how to get a party wristband without paying for one. As an AP holder, you could come into the park at any time during the day. Just after 4pm, make your way to the entrance and mingle with the crowd a bit. Put yourself in a line to get a party band. If you are confronted, act confused and say you were just trying to find a way out. I think Disney knows it to, but is choosing not to do anything about it.

No wonder parties seem even worse then last year.

When you go on a ride using standby line do they rescan the magic band then ? That should show you have no ticket. I have DAS and use FP+ that always requires band scan. But I do not know about stand by.

Stand by does not scan bands unless it is an evening EMH. During parties you show your wrist band to enter one the party has officially started at 7pm.

Oh shucks freebie for some then. How unfair. Fancy sneaking in knowing you are pulling one over. I would not enjoy it knowing I didn't pay my way like others.

It appeared to us that anyone could receive a wristband at the entrance and Tomorrowland. People just jumped in line and they handed them out, no checking.

Our tickets were not attached to our bands and neither were checked.

It seemed like there was an honor system going on.

That's sad and I would let Disney know. We got our bands at the station in Fantasyland and they were doing a great job. A few people tried to get them who either didn't understand it was a paid for event or were just trying to cheat and CMs were great at saying I'm sorry you have to go to her first and get your band/card scanned. The CMs doing the wrist bands were right after the ones scanning bands so they watched to make sure you were scanned before they would put it on.

We attended the party on Sept 8th; we entered at “the party entrance” at 4pm through the tapstiles on the far right side of the main entrance, scanned our magic bands and were given the party wristbands. Well, they didn’t get my granddaughters on tight enough and somewhere along the way her wristband came off (she’s 4). We were in Fantasyland when we realized it wasn’t on her wrist, so I spoke to a CM about getting her another one. The CM scanned her magic band to confirm that she indeed had a party ticket before she would give her another party wristband.

Really hate to hear that they are letting people get wristbands, whether they have a party ticket or not :sad2:

You need to let Disney know about your experiences. Email customer service and let them know what you saw with your very own eyes.

It should be easy enough for Disney to just scan all MB's and pass out bands for both types of guests, those who have day tickets get "day" bands, MNSSHP only get that band, have both you get both. Then, If you have a day band only, enjoy attractions from 4-7 then nothing and leave, if you have a MNSSHP band only, come on in but no attractions, shopping from 4-7, if you have both day and MNSSHP tickets enjoy everything the whole time period.

That over complicates it. No band= you can enjoy the park until 7 band means you can enjoy the park from the time you are let in the front (currently 4) until party end. It is easier to tell CMs this is the band color for tonight then to tell them 2 different band colors and what each one means and expect them to remember.

You guys really must have hated the Magical Moments in the Year of a Million Dreams. Imagine Disney giving stuff out for free!!! What an injustice!!!!

Magical Moments was a little different. You are comparing apples to oranges. With Magical Moments in the Year of a Million Dreams it was very clear whoever was getting something for free had won. Same goes for when someone might get pixie dusted a free party ticket. They are usually being told oh here we are going to let you come to MNSSHP tonight. That is very very different then giving everyone who comes through the wrist band for the party when they are in fact suppose to pay for a ticket.

The difference between the promotion and the hard-ticket parties is that during Year of a Million Dreams they were typically giving away things you couldn't purchase (special ear hats, ride lanyards, stay in Cinderella Castle). They were prizes for the promotion and it was random. People are paying about $100 a pop for the hard-ticket events. It IS an injustice if you've paid to get into the party and other people are simply going, getting wristbands and getting in for free.

One solution would be to not allow party goers in until party time. That way, anyone coming in after 6:30 or so would need a party ticket.

:duck::duck::duck:

If they did that there would have to be a hard shut down of MK at about 5pm every party day. I imagine the boards would implode if that happened for every MNSSHP and MVMCP.
