Anyone noticed everyone getting bands as MNSSHP?

If they did that there would have to be a hard shut down of MK at about 5pm every party day. I imagine the boards would implode if that happened for every MNSSHP and MVMCP.
Oh, I'm sure it would.

People want into MK earlier and earlier, on party nights. And people try to make dining reservations after the start of the party, without tickets.

It is crazy.

they are in fact suppose to pay for a ticket.
Its up to Disney to decide who is suppose to pay for a ticket. Sounds like the night in question Disney decided to let everybody who wanted to attend to do so. Maybe ticket sales weren't high enough, and they wanted to keep people in the park spending at food and merchandise venues. I don't think there's anything in the terms of a ticket sale that prohibit that.
People are paying about $100 a pop for the hard-ticket events. It IS an injustice if you've paid to get into the party and other people are simply going, getting wristbands and getting in for free.
You know, one of the things Disney often offers people who've had a bad experience, for one reason or another, is complimentary tickets. If this bothers you, maybe an alternative vacation destination would better suit you.

You really aren't getting the point. There is a difference between Disney actively making that decision through say Guest Relations making a guest happy who had a bad experience or to make someones trip more magical. What happened here was not that. I guarantee you there was not a decision made to let anyone and everyone who wanted to go get a band so that profits would go up. They make a ton more off the person paying almost 100 bucks to be there then letting everyone in for free who isn't going to actually spend a ton. This isn't Food and Wine where a large draw of the event is getting in to be able to pay to experience it. MNSSHP and MVMCP is about the parade and other "free" thinks like stage shows, candy, cookies, milk etc which Disney need the majority to be paying to experience or they'll end up not making any profit off the parties.

Would you mind explaining how you *know* this?

If that decisions was made it would have been leaked all over the internet. Something that big wouldn't not be kept secret with all the Disney bloggers and news outlets especially those who keep their finger pretty close to the pulse of Disney. Heck CMs can barely keep quiet any more about anything and will let their internet confidants know who then leak it on websites like this.

The irony is that some people are all up in arms over the thought of people re-using refillable mugs (prior to RFID mugs) and thereby stealing soda but, at the same time, there are others on here who think nothing of others stealing park admission. Getting a party wristband that you did not pay for is akin to turnstile jumping and is theft.

It appeared to us that anyone could receive a wristband at the entrance and Tomorrowland. People just jumped in line and they handed them out, no checking.

Our tickets were not attached to our bands and neither were checked.

It seemed like there was an honor system going on.
Odd, we got our wristbands at the Tomorrowland station on October 18 and there were two CMs scanning tickets/Magic Bands . Once you were scanned , you moved along the line to get wristbanded and get a trick-or-treat bag. It seemed like a pretty efficient system .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that in the past there was indeed a hard shut-down and party goers were either held in a certain land (say between 6:00-7:00) if they were already in the park that day with general admission, or if they only had a party ticket they were not let in until the party started? I know this will never happen now though, as there would be a time where a profit center wouldn't be operating and Disney isn't going to let that happen.

Yes I believe when MNSSHP first started there was a hard shut down. It was far before my first party though so I never experienced it. I know Universal still does hard shut downs for HHN that are similar and seem to work but of course I don't hear as many people complain that Universal closes at 5 several days of the week in September and October for HHN.

This is certainly disheartening. I would have been very upset if I saw this going on. I'm surprised there wasn't a mutiny, but other PAYING party-goers probably just didn't notice this was going on. This IS a very big deal. When I make a choice to purchase tickets for a party, it is a well thought out decision. And expensive for my family. The thought that people are sneaking in for free? So wrong. They then have an affect on the people who actually paid to be there by lengthening ride times, character meet and greets and making it more crowded in general for the overall party. I hope this is looked into and a solution found.

We were there last night and were saying the same thing. The people attaching the bands should have been closer to the tapstiles. Anyone could walk up.

I'm pleased it wasn't just me who noticed this then.

I sent the Disney twitter page a message about it via DM and they said it definately shouldn't be happening.

Like I said, I'm there again tomorrow night, so it'll be interesting to see if it happens again.

OP, Please let us know how it goes tomorrow night!

Yes, we saw that happening last night. That's what happened last year at the front gate, which is why I was so surprised it wasn't happening yesterday.

One solution would be to not allow party goers in until party time. That way, anyone coming in after 6:30 or so would need a party ticket.

:duck::duck::duck:

I have always thought that this was the way to go, but I realize that I am in the minority, and that this is not a popular opinion. Abuse of party attendees that didn't purchase tickets has been rampant at every MNSSHP we have ever attended, some years worse than others.

Wow, I never knew it was such a problem. Maybe I was naive thinking it was only last night it happened :-(
