Anyone not like Swiffer?

We have wood laminate floors and are considering getting a Swiffer. We currently vacuum the floors and then use a dust mop with a washcloth-kind-of-thing that fits over the top of it and spray it with wood laminate cleaner.
Would a swiffer be quicker? Is it economical?
We do have two dogs that shed.
Any comments appreciated.

Love Swiffer, both dry and wet. Can't say enough good things about them. I use it in the kitchen (tile), bathroom (vinyl), living room (hardwood). Works on all of them.:)

We use a swiffer wet on our wood laminate floors....my only complaint is that it tends to streak....haven't found a solution for that yet

My neighbor uses an old damp washcloth instead of continuing to buy those swiffer refills. She has ceramic tile though. She does it everyday to get the dog hair up and swears it works great.

I like the orange scented Swifers for dusting. I used to use the wet Swifters on my wood laminate floors but I changed over to just using a bucket and mop because it seems less wasteful. For dusting though, you can't beat it because they actually trap the dust instead of just re-dispersing it.

I always have to go back over my laminate floors with a dry rag or paper towels in order to get them not to steak.

Yeah, I also had trouble with the wet swifer picking up certain debris like hair.

I didn't like it for my laminate wood floors...too much streaking!!

I like the one you can charge and it has "sucking" power. You put a swiffer cloth on it, and it sucks up. Great for picking dog hair off of hardwood floors! Can't live without it! Think it was about $40.

Only complaint I have with it is that it doesn't stay charged long enough. Usually only make it through 2 rooms before it has to be charged again. :(

I don't like my swiffer, but only because I have 3 long-hair cats who are prolific shedders. I would have to use the swiffer hourly to keep up with it. Much less work to just let it build up and vacuum every few days.

I do like the wet jet swiffer for mopping the floors, though. And I like the dusters, too.

HATE IT! I bought one, it left major residue on my refinished
oak wood floors. I threw it out after 2 tries. This was the liquid
one. I haven't tried to dry one. I just use an almost dry mop-
barely damp- and vinegar to clean my floors. No need for anything
so exspensive as swifer.

i use the clorox ready mop on wood laminate and bathroom/kitchen tile. It is so much better than a mop and bucket. I do vacuum my floor first though because it doesn't pick up stuff like that. don't know about the swiffer though.

We received an email at work from our environmental department warning us not to use Swiffer with pets in the home. There is some sort of chemical like anitfreeze in the cleaning fluid that is fatal for dogs. They say when they walk across the floor it gets on their paws and when the lick their feet, they ingest it. After a while it will cause liver problems. There were several cases where the dogs were sick several times before they figued out that all of them were using Swiffer. It is not worth taking a chance.

Don't believe every e-mail you get.

This is an urban legend.

That has been found to be an untrue rumor...I use both the wet and dry swifters and wouldn't live without it. I have tile so no probs on the stricking like the wood floors. I do vacume the tile before using the wet swifter though so no probs on the hair and that. So much better then the mop. Hated that thing.

I love Swiffer products. We have laminite wood and tile in most of our house and Swiffer works great to keep the floors clean. I use the dry cloths before using the wet or else any dust etc would just get clummy and stick to the floor. I have had problems with streaking but that may just depend on the type of flooring it's used on.

Can't stand em. I have two labs that shed a bunch. I was using one of those swiffer cloths per room, which became very expensive. Just as easy and cheap to vacuum and mop.

i prefer vacuum and mopping, so much fun....i don't know why. Mainly the reason Cindy's my alter-ego. We both like to clean, dream, and love all animals...except sharks snakes and spiders. they just scare me too much!
