Anyone NOT going to CA??

Add us to the "not going" list. Thought about it a lot, up until I saw the prices. Cat 6, almost 7 grand for four, no air, no ins, no transfers ...Just too much.. Too many other cruising options at much more afforadable prices.... Have been to those ports already, although we really enjoyed them..

I agree! The prices on the CA cruises are nuts! I was quoted $6100 for the 8/20/05 cruise, two adults + two kids! that's almost twice what I paid for our 7 day Eastern!! Add the much more expensive airfare for us from NY, nope, can't justify it.

I do want to do a CA trip though next year. I've never been to DL...and we love San Diego!!

Nope, not going to CA. You are not alone.

Nope, us neither. I got a quote for the Aug repo cruise $5700 for 4 in a cat. 9 plus the airfare to CA and 14 days off.....I don't know if I could swing it.

Although it was nice to dream

Looks like we will be going back in 2006!!:teeth:

Couldn't justify the West Coast quote ($7000 for 4) so we booked Thanskgiving 2005. I guess I need to update my countdown calendar, but I don't think I can bear to look at how long until we cruise.

:( I wanted to go on the repositioning cruise SO BAD , but my husband can't take that much time off from work and there really isn't anyone I'd want to spend 14 days with :D ! But, like someone else said...look at the bright side, it looks like Disney is planning for a 3rd ship :bounce: !! So count me in as a member of the CALIF NO GO CLUB !!::yes:: , I guess this means yes, I'm green with envy !

I'm going to San Diego in January to visit a friend. But I won't be on the Magic in the summer of 2005. Too much money for a family of 5!

We're not going either, and I finally got DW to agree to another Mexican Riviera just because it would have been Disney. But after the quote of double what we're paying for our Halloween Magic (or the fact it's more than our Sept. S.Caribbean and our Halloween cruise combined) we both decided it wasn't worth it. Looks like we might be looking at an Alaskan for late 2005.

Congrats to those of you that got the booking you were hoping for and don't forget those trip reports. Bon Voyage, early!!

Add me to the Not Going to CA List. I live driving distance from Port Canaveral, and love the Caribbean and Castaway Cay. The rates I have seen are monumentally above the $3387 for myself, DW and DS for a Cat. 8 on Eastern next spring break, April 2, 2005, let alone air fare to the west coast. And as those who like me drive to PC know, it is much easier to throw as much as I want into the back of the SUV and have multiple pieces of luggage than it would be to cram all I want into airline suitable luggage.

For those on the West Coast, for whom all the same inconveniences would apply to their travel to FLA, I hope they have Magical Memories to last a lifetime and indeed hope this "experiment" convinces Eisner et. al. to add a third ship.

Add me to the NOT going to CA club......While I felt like I was missing out on all the excitement....I also had a bit of happiness come over me that I didn't have to go crazy....those prices kept going up all day long!!!!!!

Caribbean or Bust !

I've done the major hotspots on the Mexican Riviera (two landside vacations) and it doesn't appeal to me anymore.

We wanted to do DCL for late May 2005, but now we're looking at other lines. Maybe if the Florida Residents rate become available on the 4-day, we might try a short cruise on DCL in 2005??

I just hope the price increase cancer from the novelty of this CA cruise doesn't spread to the typical sailings (Magic or Wonder).

Maybe the "success" of the repositioning will get Disney going on additional ships, although a new ship would probably be stationed on the West Coast (built for the environment so it could sail there year-round) and could not be on-line before the middle of 2006.

We'll get our Disney fix soon - We're doing 8 days at WDW (at The Caribbean Beach Rsort) in three weeks (and work pays of 5 of it !).

Sadly, we aren't going on the California cruises either. I am not that interested in cruising the Mexican Riviera, but I would have loved to do one of the repositioning cruises! I think going through the Panama Canal would be cool! Besides the cost, I can't justify taking my kids out of school for two weeks for the May cruise or for them to miss their first few days of school for the August cruise. My DD will be starting high school in 2005! Oh well. I look forward to reading the California cruisers trip reports!

I would like to submit my nomination to to Not Going to CA Club. The repositioning cruise sounds wonderful but it's not in the cards for me.

Have a great time all of you cruising out of CA or sailing the repositioning cruises!

We aren't going. It isn't even something we could possibly consider. We have a 7 night booked for this September (2004) and then next year we have a 4 night booked for September (2005).

We can't even afford to do 7 night cruises every year. We are really 'treating' ourselves this year, but 3 & 4 day cruises are the norm for us. AND if the prices weren't so much lower in September we wouldn't be able to go either (summer prices are just too high for us). It will be a sticker shock for us in a couple of years when our twin DDs turn 13 and we have to pay adult fares! But hopefully we will be able to continue our annual cruises.

So don't feel left out. We aren't going, but we are looking forward to our upcoming cruise from Florida!

We are not going on CA cruises either! If I would really, really rich maybey, but airfare from here to CA and back plus the cost of the cruise itself is not in the cards at this time in our lives. I'm lucky that husband has consented to the second cruise next March!! I can't wait! We are going Western this time and then there is beautiful Castaway Cay to look forward to that last full day!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We are going to California (Disneyland) next August, but we are not doing the cruise. DH has no desire to do the Mexican Riviera. This will be our first trip to California, so we just want to enjoy Disneyland and the beaches nearby.:)

I live in California and I am not doing the cruise - Too expensive - I wish they were doing the 3-4 night - Or even CA or Passholder discounts - None offered yet, but I will keep holding out waiting.....and waiting....... and waiting......

I would love to go but I will only beable to do one big thing next year an I have to be their for Disney Lands 50 th. People say I nuts cause so many people will be their well I don't care. But if any one can smuggle me on board I would be willing. lol
