Anyone NOT going to CA??

Nope, we are not going either! Our first dcl cruise is this June and to be honest we don't have much of a desire to go to Mexico and the LA route. I think we will wait until next fall or the following spring.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

We were looking at one of the 7 nights in August but when I saw that the 14 night was only $175pp more I decided against it! We did not want to do 2 weeks so the 14 night is out. We don't like the 7 sea days on the 14 night either-we like port days better. We are still going to San Diego and Disneyland for the 50th next August. I think we may go on RCCL's Serenade in January 05. It does a nice Southern route (St Thomas, St Martin, Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, day at sea) and I can get my travel agent rates on it. We may do WDW and the Disney Wonder again in November 05. I also like the 7 night with 2 Castaway Cay days in November! :sunny:

We probably will not go either.

For one, prices! ;) A CA to FL repositioning in a cat 10 for the two of us will be about $4559 (late August, right?). The OCT 22 Western 7 - day in a cat 10 for us would be $2100. Simply put, we can do back to back 7-days for the price of the 14er now  I do understand their is a significant difference with ports and the canal, but we are still new at this cruise stuff and haven't been to Disney for quite some time (I think 1997 was the last time at Epcot).

Secondly, this has already gone bonzai for DCL. If everyoen pays for what they booked, there will more than likely be a California Part II int he works for 2006 (and maybe some time there after until a new ship is completed). We could save now if money is the issue and plan our 2006 vacations accordingly.

Last, I am thinking many of todays (and this week's) booking will cancel, thus possibly presenting a whole bunch of cabins available come the winter (as the time to pay conflicts with Christmas). I saw on here people booking multiple cabins (up to 9 on one post) for their friends and relatives, or some booking two rooms at different times just to have one held. Thus, the possibility of prices going down again in the next month does exist.

Although it would be exciting to do the canal with Disney, I don't need to go on the first try. Maybe we shoudl have a May get together at either DL or WDW for those of us to say Bon Voyage or Happy Arrival for the Magic when she sails.

Have a great day!!

Add me also. I am doing a NY cruise next year!!!!!No Airfare:Pinkbounc

we arent going either
*pouty face*
and BF wants our next cruise to be with his family... :(
Thats going to be tons of fun...*rolling my eyes* I dont travel well with groups of people...
oh well...a cruise is a cruise!

Well, I'm certainly glad I'm not the only one! Even if I could think of a way to go on the CA cruise airfare is just too expensive to go to CA- plus there is nothing worse than being with a 2 year old(AKA my BF!!!) on a 5+ hour flight- :) We did San Francisco a few years back & that flight was BAD!! He is SOO fidgety! (plus we flew back from CA to NY on Sept 11, 2001-- so it kind of freaks me out to think about flying to/from CA again- call me a wimp if you must. :worried: I much prefer my 2 1/2 hours on jet blue with him watching ESPN the whole time!! But, it would be cool if they ADDED the CA cruises with a new ship- but do you think they would do that? I mean, right now it is booking like NUTS because of the novelty, plus people are substituting for the fla cruises. But a new ship? that would take away from the FLA line if only because half of the country would be closer to CA- & is there a DCL terminal in CA? I have seen pix of the one in FLA & it looks awesome- how will you check in & board the ship in CA? Maybe it's worth it for DCL to just have a spot each year where they go to ca & do 2 14days to get there & back? Who knows.... I just can't wait for MY FIRST CRUISE IN A WEEK!!!!!!!!

After 1/05 cruise we are saving for either an Alaskan cruise (wishfully DCL:rolleyes: ) or a 7-nt Magic.

To Beav - yes, I love that episode. Actually, I love that whole CA trip!

I was going to book a 7-day to celebrate after I get my QA1 but I guess I'll have to postpone and wait until I get the QA 2 or my RID certification. I am not going to CA. Been there done that and hated the place.

As of right now, we have the last 7-night out of LA held, but we will probably relinquish that. Can't justify paying more for a cruise that leaves from home than a cruise that leaves from Florida.

As it stands, we are paying substantailly less for our cruise this August for better ports and also a trip to CC. For the price quote I got, we are flying to Orlando, staying the night before, having DCL transfers, and still have some left for GF's spa treatment when we get there and a couple drinks.

So I guess I could say I'm not going to CA, but I'm already here! I may end up eating those words though, should anything still be available after this August.

If it wasn't for rent, bills, and tuition.... stupid high cost of living!

Unfortunately, we will NOT be going to CA. We live on Long Island and school is still in session for the May repo cruise. I am a teacher and can't take two weeks off right before Regents Exams. We decided to take an April '05 Western cruise instead. On Long Island, schools are closed the last week in April next year. I would have loved to be on the ship as it goes through the Panama Canal. Oh, well.

We're not going either :( Part of me really wanted to do the repo back to FL in August but with going on the Thanksgiving cruise (with 2 stops at CC :D :D ) this Nov. it would just be too expensive for us. Also DH really wants to try a different cruiseline (probably RC) next time with different ports and less expensive pricing. I would have liked to go through the Panama Canal and the stop at Curaco is appealing to me but the stops on the Western side don't really appeal to us very much so I guess deep down I'm OK with not going. It is hard not to get caught up in all the excitement though ;) .

Have fun everyone that does get to go!!

We're not going either!!! I wanted to book for end of May 2005 going out of Port Canaveral, but realized a while back that was unlikely. I am still trying to talk my DH into rebooking for Dec. 2005 while we are on the Wonder in a few weeks.::yes:: We shall see!!!:teeth:

I am glad to see the Magic will be available to the west coast folks who wish to sail. All this talk about success seems sort of irrelevant. The ship never sails less than 100% booked during the summer anyway. Seems as though DCL is taking money from the right pocket and putting it in the left. Plus all that tourism money that would potentially have gone to the much larger WDW from cruisers across the country is now in doubt of going to the much smaller DL and associated resorts. If DCL eventually puts a 3rd ship on the west coast and it isn't always full, they can send it to Port Canaveral and we'll sell it out as always.

We live in California and are NOT going either.

This FL/CA change came 4 yrs too late for us. We took our 3rd and last DCL cruise last summer and are doing the Mariner/RCCL next month. After that, no more cruising for a while...gets too expensive for family of 5 and our oldest is college bound this fall. With all the travelling to Orlando (3 times since 2000) and extra money spent on airfare I only regret DCL didn't try this CA change sooner so we could have benefited on some of the savings and convenience!!

We are also not going.

Happy sailing to all those that are.;)

Nope , could never get 14 days off.. but retirement , now theres another story .. but guess thats not in the near future...

me :(

I saved for the one we're leaving on in 50 days forever. This is a dream cruise. It will be a long time before I can do anything like this again. :(

Add us to the "not going" list. Thought about it a lot, up until I saw the prices. Cat 6, almost 7 grand for four, no air, no ins, no transfers ...Just too much.. Too many other cruising options at much more afforadable prices.... Have been to those ports already, although we really enjoyed them..

Not going to California, but I'm fine with that.

We are doing the 10 day Christmas cruise which is giving me something to look forward to.

Now when a 3rd ship is built and they start booking Alaskan cruises - then I'll be calling! ::yes::

Congrats to all who are sailing out West - enjoy!

Hi Mary, Were with you. We will be sailing on the 10 day sailing 12/18/04. When DCL decides to do a California 3 or 4 night land and sea package than I will be on that phone. Even Alaska!!!
All that are going have a super time. Gail

No CA cruise for us.

No FL cruise, either, unless they come out with some FL resident rates. :sad1:

But we are going to WDW again this weekend! :jumping1:
