Triton's on the Disney Wonder and Lumiere's on the Disney Magic are both rotation restaurants. I've only been on the Magic, but from photos and deck plans, I can tell you that Triton's and Lumiere's are similar, and both are in the same location on their respective ships. The decor is similar, but is based on different Disney movies.

On the 3- and 4 night Disney Wonder cruises, the suggested dress is based on the rotation dining room. DCL suggests jackets in Triton's.

On the 7-night Disney Magic cruises, the suggested dress is based on the day, and not the rotation dining room. DCL suggests appropriate attire for four regular casual evenings, one tropical (or Mexican/tropical) casual evening, one formal evening, and one semi-formal eveing -- regardless of which rotation dining room you're in.

Palo, the optional, adults-only restaurant is on both ships. It is not part of the dining rotation on either ship. Even when the rotation dining rooms are casual, DCL suggest jackets at Palo.

I think the reason that DCL no longer suggests jackets for every night in Lumiere's is so that all guests can enjoy the same mix of casual and dressy eveinings, regardless of rotation.

Thanks for all the info- I knew Triton's was on Wonder/Lumiere's on Magic- but I didn't know why they were changing things about how to dress for Lumiere's. That reasoning DOES make a lot of sense to me- I agree with it... but I think they should change the wording on their website- because that means only those who have access to previous recent navigators (and/or read this board) will know this... which means everyone else who goes by what DCL info says (not in navigators- I mean their website, the catalog I received from TA, etc.) is going to be dressier in Lumiere's. We don't want to stick out like a sore thumb regardless of what the "rule" is at that point. LOL

for tropical night, find a parao, Or however you spell it. I personally couldnt fit one around me!! But I have seen people do this while on St. Maarten. Wrap yourself up in it and put a flower in your hair, throw on sandles, and you are all set.

LOL ... sorry for laughing- but I WISH I were the type of person that could do such a thing and be "all set". How's a person keep that thing on? LOL

Oh don't tell me now is the best time to shop for dresses- I can't buy them now for next year! I might not be the same size/shape by a year from then. I was planning on wait a little closer to sailing date to buy stuff so it would be sure to fit properly...

We sailed on the 11/29 Magic--There were six of us, myself, DH, and 4 daughters, 13,10,6 and 4. Thought I would contribute my experience.

"Casual" evenings I wore "dressy" capris pants (not denim) and a blouse/shirt. I actually worked it out that I could wear the same pair of black dress sandals with each outfit. I wore this to Lumiere's on "casual" night and felt 100% comfortable. DH wore dockers and a polo shirt or short sleeve collared shirt with loafer shoes (same pair). Girls wore capris or sundresses.

"Tropical" night was flower capris for me and a Hawaiian shirt with dockers for him. Kids again wore capris or sundresses.

"Formal night" I wore a black tank dress with sheer beaded shirt over it (different shoes). Not a ballgown, but certainly appropriate for a wedding. DH wore dress slacks, sport coat and tie. Again, 100% comfortable. Older girls wore dresses, little ones wore princess dresses (wound up wearing these twice because of all the attention!)

"Semi formal" night I wore a pair of satin, beaded capris pants with a gold blouse. Think "new years eve house party" DH wore dress slacks, black dress shirt, no tie. Older girls a dress or satin pants with a shirt, little girls minnie mouse dresses.

So you can be comfortable and appropriate with the clothes you may already own. I would never want to go to Pluto's/Pinnochio's for dinner-the food is OK for lunch but no way for dinner. We did not eat at Topsiders at all, so I don't know about that.

My experience with packing: I brought 7 suitcases plus a carryon and each kid had a carryon with their "stuff". We were gone for 10 days, spent 2 nights at Unversal before sailing.

I found that I had WAY too many "day" clothes but the perfect amount for evening. So it wasn't dinner clothes that caused the problem. I planned each night and that was it. But I kept packing things "just in case" and brought home 2 suitcases of CLEAN, NEVER WORN clothes! Lessons learned....

IMO, "formal night" is OK, but the ONLY place the majority of people are dressed up is in the dining room and in line for formal pictures. When we went to the show before dinner there were many people in shorts. Then before and after dinner, people are walking around the ship in ALL types of clothing, some in bathing suits if they are swimming. So it is not like you are at a party where everyone is walking around in top hat and tails. Most early diners go back and change and then go do something else.
