i think i read on these boards awhile back about making pixie dust to sprinkle at the parks for little kids so they think tink is around. has anyone done this? what did you use? just glitter? and do you have any creative "stories" to tell the kids? thanks for your help!! :)

I would suggest the super fine glitter...they have some of the really fine glitter in the white sparkly kind and I think that would work really well. I used it for magic dust with preschool once (I teach drama to pre-k through 6th grade) and it worked really well.

My DD almost 4 cried after Tink flew over. A CM who was visiting noticed her and asked what was wrong. We told him she was upset because she would "never see Tink again." He bought the set of Tink ornaments at the Christmas store and sprinkled the Pixie Dust on her as the Peter Pan float passed by during Specto. He then gave her the ornaments and told her Tink had sent them for her. It was one of our most magical Disney moments.

That's amazing! I wonder if the CMs have to pay for these items with their own money, whenever I hear about a gesture such as this. Does anyone have any idea? :flower:

I've also read that you can you the Wilton Cake decorating glitter. It won't hurt if a little one gets it in his/her eyes and it will wash out of hair very easily. Have you ever tried to get regular glitter out of hair? It can take weeks! Kathy :dog:

When a close friend of mine died, I made Confetti out of pictures of her & of us together. I mixed it with sequins & glitter for the Pixie Dust. Then a group of us spent the day scattering her throughout the Parks & at her favorite resort. She had wanted her ashes spread at WDW but died so young she never wrote her wishes down. Her family didn't know & buried her instead of cremating her, so we had to make our own.

I have pictures of us all flying down Splash Mountain with clouds of Confetti & Pixie Dust flowing from our wands. It is a great reminder of a Great Friend who I miss everyday. She would have loved it & done the same for me. I know she would have.

That is a sweet memory - thanks for sharing!! I too had a friend die early, when I visit his grave I always sprinkle "Pixie Dust" I know his mom goes to his grave, and she often mentions the "sparkle" ! I think I will add the mix to my list!!

Thank you for sharing!! How do you get the pixie dust and wands together? I know we have a store in the mall called "Looby Lu" that sells fine glitter...

My sister found some great glitter hairsrpay. It was nice fine gold glitter, so it worked really well. As I recall, it washed out fairly easily too. I think she bought it at a salon - it wasn't the cheap stuff they sell for halloween at costume places, but I suppose that would work too.

I got some very fine purple glitter in a tube at Michael's in the t-shirt making supplies and it worked great. --- just be sure to get the very fine glitter, it really does look like dust!

I used the glitter all over too. I sprinkled a little in bath water and I also left out Tink gifts at night and sprinkled just a little around those too. As well as a pinch here and there in the parks from time to time. OH and if you go to Tinkerbell's Treasure shop in Fantasyland, be sure to sprinkle a little on the
dresser where you can look in the keyhole in one of the drawers to see Tink.
My niece was in total awe over that one! (Cause it was the same pixie dust that was by the Tink gift she found in our room)

Another neat thing to do if you can is to buy that wash off window paint stuff (like the use to write in car windows for graduations and things) and write on note from Tink on the bathroom mirror. Use swirly handwriting. And don't forget -- be very sneaky! Kid's notice everything!!!!
(the window paint can also be found at Michael's or other craft stores)

I had a blast being Tink and my niece was just amazed by it all. She still talks about Tink the "visits" all the time!

Usually the cast member does not have to pay for these items depending on what department they work in. sometimes they get a steeeep discount. However a castmember can only give a gift about once every sooo often.

Thanks, Michelle! I was starting to despair of getting an answer to my question! :flower:
