I found out someone, who is very intelligent, has soft "inappropriate" pictures saved on his work computer. Nothing extremely graphic or illegal, but I'm pretty liberal minded and I would classify it pornographic.

I'm totally live and let live, I mean, it's stupid of him to do it, but not my business and I'm not going to tell on him. If caught, he would very likely lose his job. He is a nice man with kids in college.

EXCEPT, that I got to thinking. He is intelligent enough to know that he shouldn't have those files on a WORK computer.....leading me to think he must be addicted to looking at it and can't "go without it." We work with kids. My live and let live philosophy gets cloudy when I wonder if the kids are in any danger. Does the fact that he have these pictures on his computer increase the fact of him being a sexual predator? Should I tell on him?

Are the pictures of kids? Or adults? Child molesters usually don't have adult porn--not their thing. There's no thrill there for them.
If it's adult porn, I say let him take his chances. If it's kids--tell someone and tell them now.

it's adults. Females. Mainly women in thongs, but extremely close up angles. Also the ones that I would consider bad were women in undies, but totally see-through ones. A few topless, I think. A picture of a dog and a kangaroo "together" (Don't ask me.) But really nothing too crazy or hardcore.

I agree. If it's kids or even teenagers then that's not okay.

It certainly sounds like this material is totally inappropriate for any workplace! If he's as intelligent as you indicate... I'd be concerned about his behavior. I might not suspect a predator, but... something may not be right.

How does he get away with having these images in the workplace?

Bottom line... if what he's doing makes you uncomfortable... confront him about it. If that doesn't work... snitch. :smooth:

He's not a sexual predator. At least not one interested in children.

I saved a picture of my dd on my computer. I couldn't remember where I saved it. So I did a search for all .jpegs. Well, apparently there was a glitch in the system and it brought up .jpegs saved in everyone's personal, private, folder. I searched, looking for my pic, when I saw the images. When I held the cursor over them, it told me whose folder it was saved in. I have no idea why he would be so stupid as to save them in his work folder. :confused3 The only other explanation I could think of is that some teenage boys were on his computer, but that is just as stupid of him. :confused3

Noen of these are pornographic as you describe them. In poor taste, especially in a workplace, but not pornographic.

Well... at least he's not using it as his wallpaper or screensavers!

Sounds very strange. I guess I might not say anything to him or a supervisor, unless some other suspicious behavior appears.

In this day and age... having anything inappropriate on a workplace computer is just plain dumb!

Oh, okay. I thought it was pornographic because the women in the see through stuff were totally exposed. I guess it is just pornographic if it shows the act?

I wouldn't touch this one with a ten-foot pole ... what a human resources nightmare waiting to happen. Who wants to be involved in this mess? No way, dude. Saying ANYTHING to this guy is inviting a horrible confrontation. If you absolutely, positively feel like you can't stay quiet, mention the "glitch" to the tech guys and see if they find what you found.

So you haven't asked him about it yet? I'm thinking you should bring it up somehow---because maybe he doesn't know they are there. You could go on for years thinking they were his when they weren't and it will definitely change your feelings about him. Kinda like holding a grudge---you'd hate to believe this about him if it really wasn't true. Could his college age kids have been messing around on his computer? I got some very explicit emails one time and found out that our exchange student had been using my computer which was near his bedroom. Even though he knew he shouldn't be going to those websites it sure came back to haunt me. We were able to get the stuff taken care of but for awhile it was a pain! Glad I have a home business and no one walked into my office!!

Two animals "together"?!?! :confused3 I would say this guy has a major problem. I don't know what the pc crowd considers pornographic nowadays, but women showing it all even through wisps of cloth is for only one purpose, duh, :rotfl2: and that is what pornography IS. Sorry. I don't know that I would report him, but I would keep an eye on him, and maybe share this info with anyone you really trust at work. A kangaroo and a dog???? What's with you people? You think this is O.K.?!?!?! :scared1: Sometimes I wonder about some of you on this board :scratchin :scared1: .

The kangaroo and the dog was probably some dumb joke picture. I doubt it was an actual picture of the two species performing an "act" for the pleasure of this guy. As for women in thongs and see-through tops, no I don't consider that pornographic. Sleazy-sure. Smutty-fine. Should they be on his computer at work? Of course not. If he was a friend, I might consider telling him what I saw just so that he could remove them from the computer. It could be that these pictures were sent to him via email (of course still inappropriately) and they're just stored on his computer. It may not be that he's sifting through "porn" on his lunch hour.

You work with kids? Are you working for a school district? If so, he should be fired, not only for having porn on his computer, but for doing that trash on the taxpayers computers.

There is no excuse for having that stuff on your work computer in a business environment in today's world, let alone a place where children are. Just so you know, pedophiles are attracted to jobs that involve children. You may just not have found THOSE pictures yet.

I wouldn't confront him about it, he can easily transfer the pictures to you and incriminate you too.

Sometimes the NICEST guys are the closet wierdo's. Look at BTK, the boy scout leader.

I didn't say I thought any of these were OK, but having those pictures doesn't make him a sexual predator, which is what the OP asked; she didn't ask if I thought they were OK.

Looking at pornography does not mean someone is a sexual predator. If that was the case, we would need to build MANY more jails.

What he has is however probably a violation of workplace policy. Personally, I would not get involved. Many places have their IT people monitor this stuff anyways.

I guess it depends on the policies of the company you work for. I know at one of my previous employers (a large Fortune 500 company) that any girlie pictures - even suggestive pictures of girls in bathing suits (or guys) were not tolerated and were considered a potential form of sexual harassment. I saw people walked out (fired) for having inappropriate pictures/websites on their work computers.

Now the place I work at now, uh.... One guy has some classical artwork on his office that would definately fall under interpretive art :confused3

The thing that bothers me is that he works with children.
Doesn't matter if he "likes" children,
or is/isn't viewing them in porn - softporn or not.
I think it's totally inappropriate for anyone to be viewing
suggestive pictures at a workplace where there are children,
even if there is no chance they will see it.

The sole reason people view porn is for the excitement,
so therefore I would not want a person who just got done
looking at "close-ups" to then be around my child.
It wouldn't matter one bit to me if that person never
looked at a child "like that," it's enough that they can't
control their desires/addictions on the job, let alone around my child.

I'd be the one to mention it to HR, so flame away if you must.
I wouldn't play it up, but I would state exactly what happened
and then give my opinion as stated above.

everyone seems quick to jump on the guy. Maybe he doesn't even know they are on his computer. Viruses can do bad things today. Our home computer became infected with a virus (we think due to neighbor using our wireless connection before we password protected it). We would delete these pictures and they kept coming back. Computer had to be completely redone to rid the porn pictures from our home.
