Anyone know why Shades of Green ticket prices are so high?

Although this applies only to the military, or DoD entitled to purchase their park tickets at Shades of Green, I figured I'd post my question here. Does anyone know why the ticket prices (for 1 Day - 4 Day) are MORE EXPENSIVE at the Shades of Green ticket office? The add on fees are the same ($35 to make it not expire, etc) but the base price for a 1-4 day ticket are more expensive than the gate prices! Each ticket is $4-$6 more than a regular ticket at the gate. We are shocked that Disney is letting that happen on property. I certainly don't expect a discount just because we are in the military, but I for sure don't appreciate being charged more than the gate price. Just wondering if anyone had any insight. Thanks.

Are you including TAX on the gate price? SOG does not charge tax.

The discounts are not as good as they used to be.

I was just checking on the Shades of Green prices earlier today. Here is what I have:

Base Ticket(Disney price with tax included):
Disney-A Shades Disney-C Shades
1 day $63.63 63.25 51.12 50.74
2 day $126.74 126.00 102.24 102.00
3 day $182.12 165.00 145.91 131.00
4 day $197.03 181.00 157.62 145.00
5 day $205.55 189.00 165.08 152.00
6 day $208.74 192.00 167.21 154.00
7 day $211.94 195.00 170.40 157.00

I am thinking that they just may not have been able to get much of a discount from Disney on those tickets. The majority of the savings is from not having to pay tax on them.

Did you see the Stars and Stripes pass that is now on the shadesofgreen.org website? I think we are going to get an 8 day length of stay pass. Even if we use one day and go to Seaworld, it gives us the flexibility to go to the park at night. It is still cheaper than a 7-day MYW pass. The only drawback is that they expire.

We were there in Jan and got the 6 day stars and stripes pass. It is for 6 consecutive days but is no longer tied to your length of stay. In other words when we bought it it didn't matter how many nights we were staying. It is cheaper than the MYW with hopping and plus features and the pluses are unlimited.

When I first looked at the SOG tickets, I too thought that they were higher than the MYW tickets until I realized that the MYW tickets price list that I was looking at did not have tax included.

We're purchasing our tickets through SOG and will be getting the Stars and Stripes. I think they're a better value, even though they do expire.

A base one day/one park ticket with tax at the gate is $68.64, so you are saving about $5.

You're not being charged more than gate price. There is a comparison on the SoG site, and I've not seen anywhere that SoG tickets are more expensive than MYW gate prices.

Yep, we are going to do exactly what you suggested. We are heading to Fl around the 7th of May and plan on one of our days being spent at Sea World. Anheiser-Busch is offereing a program called HeroSalute, and it is giving free entrance to all active duty and reserve military and up to 4 of their family members. At least that's one day where we won't spend as much money! Thanks for your suggestion!
