UPDATE!!!!!

Talked to my friend today and I found out what happened when they got to the airport.

The bone-head with no status arrived at the airport security check point with 30 minutes until their plane took off. I had commented in my original post that the security lines at MSP have been longer than normal because of some construction going on.... guess what... they were super long...... said bonehead started to panic and started telling someone their plane took off in a half hour. SOMEONE LET THEM CUT TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE!!!!!! We must have had some really nice, compassionate passengers at MSP that day! They got to the gate as their plane was boarding and did make their flight.

If they would not have been given "cuts" by other passengers in the TSA line, they would have missed their flight..... all I can think of is Goofy4Tinks Dunkin Donuts story........

Duds

Wow! I travel to and from MSP frequently and NEVER saw that happen at the Lindbergh terminal. They were very lucky. Usually those folks get told some version of "too Bad, so Sad". Maybe they did tell everyone they knew Duds (I don't think most there would know bavaria, lol).

It (line skipping with the help of TSA) does happen almost every time we are at the HHH terminal, though. But it is so much easier to navigate there and the TSA folks are pleasant & helpful as well as professional. No need to be a friend of Duds at HHH - they treat everyone that way. We allow lots of time so I don't mind the late ones cutting in.

I will pay extra to avoid Lindbergh & use HHH. It's worth it!

Ah, but I have been to/through/from MSP more than most here, I suspect. (Except for most likely those DIS posters who do hard core bowling mileage runs, perhaps) I've even met one or two nice people from MSP over the years.

Yep, and it's because of these buttheads (for lack of a better word, idiot seemed slightly too harsh) that the flights I'm on usually end up leaving late... they're those stragglers that a plane full of people have to wait for.

As for me, I like being at the airport early, PDX is a VERY nice airport so I like to grab a meal at Stanford's then I go shopping at places like Niketown and Powell's books. Check-in and security are hardly long, I'd say 30 minutes to do both at most, usually 10-15 minutes but we usually get there 3 hours head of time. And if for whatever reason we're done with eating and shopping, there's really nice wi-fi areas will all the various plug ins one may need for free so it's good DIS time.

But as a side note, depending on the time we go to the airport, transportation time can either be 30 minutes or 2 hours... stupid rush hour! So we also like to give ourselves extra time if traffic is bad.

And another side note, one time our flight was delayed 3 hours onces so we just hopped on the light rail to Ikea and looked around, which is only 2 stops down from PDX.

1. He seemed really proud that he was allowed to skip to the front of the line.
2. He said, "I don't know what we would have done if no one let us skip to the front of the line".

I'm guessing the idea of giving himself more time next time, isn't an idea that he's had.

I would bet you are 100% correct!

And because they were able to cut in they never learned to allow extra time. I have a friend like this, when things like this happen to them (and they always do) I say "Oh and the Foy luck comes through again!"

Ah yes..the old 'I can wait as long as I want and someone will allow me to cut the line' trick....nothing like rewarding bad behaviour.
You know, there are times that allowing that are justified. But, if someone just doesn't want to have to sit there, waiting, and arrives at the airport only 30 mins before departure, then too bad. If the airlines continue to allow them to move to the front of the line, because they didn't leave enough time, so be it. If the door closes without them onboard..oh well.
Bonehead indeed!!!! I know someone just like that...and he would continue to exhibit that behaviour until he found it impossible to cut the line. You had better beleive he wouldn't chance it again!!!

I get so agravated as these types of travellers (and the people who allow them to cut int line so that they continue to think doing this is acceptable). Geez, our 3 hour connection through Amsterdam shrunk to 45 minutes and we had to wait in a rather long passport control line (we could see our plane at the gate right on the other side), since we were on "that" side it was fairly ibviously not our fault that we were running out of time and I still couldn't bring myself to ask to be allowed to jump ahead (okay, I was watching the clock mighty close, had it taken much longer I would have begged--as is we walked up to the gate and were greeted with "you must be the NHdisneylover family we were the only ones not on board yet and they new our conenction had been very late; we still pulled away from the gate on time).

I thought of this thread early this morning while in line at MHT...too much time on the disboards obviously.

Arrived one hour before takeoff which is usually plenty of time there but it there were 80 people in line at SW counter (heard the rep counting); unfortunately I had an item that has to be checked. Got through security and a minute to use the restroom before walking on with A30-60 boarding group. butt in seat with no waiting, now where's my medal?

HOw 'bout a flower instead I am jealous--I mss flying out of MHT; it used to be our home airport. We considered it one of the bigest perks of living in NH

I remember a time when I had a flight from Charlotte to Munich. While in Munich, I had exactly 55 minutes to reach my connecting plane. My son and i were running through the airport. We were thankful we were familiar with the airport and knew where we were going, but it did not change the fact that we were stressing over the slightly long line at security.

As we patiently (nervously) waited, an airport employee came waltzing to the front of the line with a group of about 15 people and said they had a plane leaving very soon and needed access to the front of the line. I was fuming when my son and I arrived at our gate....only to see this same group resting quietly in seats while waiting to board the same plane as us.
