Someone on the radio was talking about a kit they bought where you could have Santa's footprints coming out of your fireplace. I couldn't find a kit, SO does anyone have any ideas how I could do it??? :confused3

I used to make a boot pattern out of paper and then sift baby powder into boot print pattern. My kids when they were younger, loved this!!

I was thinking corn starch with some glitter, but baby powder would smell good. I think my boys would really like it. Did you have any trouble getting it out of your carpet? Or should I just put a couple of prints on the slate in front of the fireplace?

I think this is great idea, but wouldn't something black be a better idea?

Unless of course you are doing this with a gas fireplace, and then I guess it doesn't matter what color you use.

White powder represents snow on Santa's boots. The baby powder should vacume right up and smells nice.

I was going to do white for snow, but I read somewhere that you can do fine black sand for soot.

I just read this in "Hints form Heloise". She said to trace right and left boots to make stencils and then use baking soda to make the foot prints. That would vacuum right up.

A little OT -

One year DH and I had a couple of drinks while putting together Christmas gifts, and came up with a great idea. We wanted to put footprints in the snow outside the house of the sleigh and reindeer. We couldn't get our footprints in the snow next to the sleigh, so here's what we did. We took a troll doll, taped it to a yardstick, and stood on the porch, making imprints in the snow. It didn't look very authentic, but I can't remember when we laughed so hard!

Good luck with your footprints. Now that my kids are a little older, and ask way too many questions, I find the "less is more" philosphy works better.

That is WAY TOO FUNNY! Nothing makes you more creative than a couple of drinks! :drinking1
