DH and I leave for SSR on Sunday, and we're wondering what the prices are like at the SSR store for beer (six or 12 pack) and water bottles?

We know the prices will be high, but we want to be prepared for HOW HIGH and budget accordingly.:thumbsup2

If the price of one twelve-pack affects your overall vacation budget...

CAN I COME TO YOUR PARTIES????

a 6pack of Smirnoff Ice was around 29$ no lie-I was shocked!! :scared1: we laughed!! the cheaper beer was much better priced but still high. But not compared to the Smirnoff IcE!

the BIG bottle of water (1.5L) is $3.50

Sorry I didn't buy beer. But I found the wine wasn't badly priced (if you get the 750ml bottles of wine)

What is up with the Smirnoff!!

We went to a local sports bar here and I ordered a Smirnoff Ice and it was
$5.25! So I guess they are charging what you would pay in a bar:confused3

It is not all that!

Can I bring alcohol in my check in luggage at the airport?

If not, maybe I will drive.

We arrive at BWV on 1/28, anybody want us to stop at the liquor store and p/u stuff for you on our way?

Well our room, plane tickets, park tickets, and DDP is already paid off, and we don't want to put anything on our credit card if we can help it. Mainly we're just trying to figure out how much cash to bring with us for the extras. That's what I meant by "budget".

I'll just guesstimate the best I can.

You can purchase 6pks/12pks at the Hess station across the street from the Boardwalk. The cost of a 6pk there is about the same as a single beer from the hotel. It is a very short walk across the street from Boardwalk.

Go to the Hess station accross from the PI bus stop if you don't have a car. Better selection, better prices. If you have a car, go out 535 to The Crossroads. You can get beer, water, food etc... much cheaper.

Hopefully we'll be staying at the BWV in Dec. I'll have to remember that one.

I was just busting your chops!

Another option if you don't have a car is to use one of the grocery delivery services. That probably would not be economical for a 12 of beer and 20 bottles of water, but if you need other groceries, it's something to look into.

Two firms who provide that service are Wegoshop and Garden Grocer. They take your order, go to the grocery store of your choice, pay regular grocery prices, and then add on a modest service charge. We have not personally used them, but many have.

I'd check with folks who have used them recently. Both companies have been through some rough patches, but most of the reviews I've seen have been from satisfied customers. If you get six-months old bad feedback, but everything since has been positive, they have probably worked out their growing pains.

Good luck, and have a beer for me!

At the store at the boardwalk I believe it was about $12 a six pack of Coors light, and about $4 a can.

That's about the going rate. anywhere from $9 - $12 per 6pk.

If you are planning on drinking a few beers....don't fret over it. If you intend on drinking a few (3-9) a night, bring your own!

My DH ended up with a freebie at BWV. We were behind a gentleman buying 4 of the $4 cans, and DH tapped him on the shoulder and let him know he would pay less if he bought the 6 pack. The guy did and thanked us 8000 times and then asked if we would like one for saving him some $$. We declined, he insisted, and we enjoyed a cold one on the BW! :)

Can't speak for SSR specifically, but I went to buy two cans of beer at BCV marketplace and was told that the 'better buy' was to buy the whole sixpack because two beers were around $12 but the sixpack was 'only' about $16.

I would imagine that SSR prices are similar (or identical) to BCV.

hey, all this talk is making me thirsty..... I thinks it's time for a cold one :)

but thanks for the heads up on the Hess station; I can look forward to saving a few $ when I go down to BCV in June.

Cheers !!!
