Anyone just back? Lovebug report?

We arrived home late on the 12th, and never saw a single lovebug.
I take that back, my Dsis (who was paranoid of them---probably was searching for them) saw one on the ground (sidewalk) in the middle of the trip....never saw one after that. I never would have even seen that one if she didn't point it out to me, and the weather was super hot and humid while we were there. i was pleasantly surprised.

We left on Friday, and I saw two all week. Sounds like we just missed them.

I really don't know what the fuss is about. They don't bite, they don't sting, they are really harmless. If you drive your own car you'll want to get it washed a couple times during your trip. No biggie.

My SIL who lived in FL her whole life says they stay up to 2 weeks. Hopefully they won't be as bad as last year. Looks like they will be gone in time for our trips :goodvibes .

Sounds like they'll be gone or their numbers will be few by the time we get there! I personally don't care but my DD4 & DD2 aren't exactly bug lovers so I don't want the lovebugs to be their most remembered memory of their first trip to disney.

I've seen them before -they won't bother me but my DD4 & DD2 won't like them and it could stop them from wanting to do something i.e. go to the pool (if the lovebugs are there) who knows! Just do want the hassle that comes w/them.

I understand, my kids will be the same way. Actually DD seen them before on vacation and was not thrilled but did alright. They were bad by the WL pool area though. DS3 will truly freak out about these bugs landing on or near him  . It won't be fun if I have to deal with whiny boy ;) .

Alright darn it, are they there or not? some people see them some don't. :confused3 Well I am going to take it that there are not very many then. And I am not going to read this thread again before I leave next Sat. so I will be surprised either way. :thumbsup2

Probably both are true. :goodvibes They probably are just now arriving and aren't really thick yet. Also, I was there last year during the "invasion," but from media reports, last year was an anomaly in the amount that there were. This year may just be a more mild year. At least I hope so for everyone. :cheer2:

Very true. They are here, but few and far between at the moment. My daughter, who attends school in Tallahassee, says they are very thick up there. I don't think they have arrived in mass yet. I'm really hoping it will be a light year.

I saw TWO on Saturday. One (well, two;) ) on the wall outside our room at CSR, and one landed on me at Magic Kingdom later that afternoon.

That was it. We were there until 3pm yesterday, and I didn't see anymore (and I was looking). Hopefully they won't be too bad this year for everyone's trip!

Plan for evening thunderstorms and humidity--your trip will be great!

Great post! Hmmm...if they are thick in Tall. right now, how long does it take for them to move to Orlando? We had them during our trip last year, and I was REALLY hoping those buggers would be dead and gone this time! :goodvibes Thanks to all the OPs for keeping us updated!

We just got back yesterday and I did not see one love bug. Maybe the dry weather over the summer kept them at bay. Enjoy!

I just got back and didn't see one!! Although we stopped in GA on the way home and I saw some there.....maybe they are on their way?

I'm at the world right now and have been since the 11th and have not seen a single love bug.

I just got back on the 15th and saw no bugs of any kind. The crowds were low at Epcot and Animal Kingdom but moderate at Magic Kingdom and MGM. The water parks were great!

Subscribing...we are leaving in 24 days and I experienced love bugs during our May trip to GF in 2006 and they were EVERYWHERE at the resort. The pool with the slide was actually unbearable! You couldn't sit down anywhere, they covered the tables and you if you sat too long. YUCK!!! I am HOPING they are not there again.
But I must say, I didn't notice them in the parks too much, only by the pool.

They have just started showing up around here in the last week or so. The last couple of days have been worse.

For anyone heading to WDW and travelling through Louisiana, make sure you plan to stop occasionally to wash the nasty things off your vehicle. I know all of the gas stations around here are doing a pretty good job of keeping plenty of water and squeegees out. Every store has huge pyramids of washer fluid stacked up outside!

One reason I won't go to WDW in September is because we always drive and I hate the thought of fighting love bugs all the way down there and back. I drove 75 miles today and had to wash my windshield/front of vehicle twice!
