Anyone just back? Lovebug report?

So have they come and gone for the season?... or just haven't made an appearance yet?? The one good thing about them is that you get to watch the big tough guys freak out like little girls when they land on them!!

We're going in 2 weeks, I hope those things don't make an appearance. Last year they were horrible. We had to clean our CBR hotel room every night. Gross! So, since they're not out yet, does it mean they will not come out? They're supposed to be coming out at the end of August. Just wondering what we should expect for our trip.

I hope they don't come out at all. We check in the first week of October and sure hope they don't wait. DD will be grossedd out but DS will just freak  . It will be a long trip if so because DS is really anal about stuff like bugs. Go figure, he's a boy  . We didn't have them last over Labor Day, but in 2003 they were disgusting. Hope everyone has a bug free trip.

What about mosquitos? I can handle love bugs, but my little girl gets eaten up by mosquitos in our back yard. Should I come armed with defense at WDW?

What month do they usually emerge? how long do they hang out? We are going next year the end of June, so I was wondering if I will have that to look forward too :dance3:

they also move around - sometimes they were in the Panhandle area and not in Orlando at all.

generally they start the last week in August and go until the first week in October.

So, since it's already mid September, here's hoping they're a no show this year. Wishful thinking?

Sort of off topic, but how is the 6th of September already the middle of the month? Don't mind me, I'm just being a smarta$$. hehehe

The love bugs usually come in May and again in September. They seem to be worse in May. They all seem to come out at once and they disappear almost the same way.

We haven't seen any here yet this month, but someone posted they had started seeing them in South Florida about a week ago. I expect they'll be out up this way, which includes Orlando, within a week or so.

Hmm.. Last year we had them all over the panhandle AND our Disney trip mid-September.. so, I don't think the lovebugs have heard they're only supposed to be one place or the other. :)

So far I haven't seen a love bug this season. :thumbsup2

Uh-oh. Posted on this thread and then went to DD's Orientation where we encountered..... LOVEBUGS! And they were all over the grills of many of the cars there....

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek:eek: ....couple of questions for you.
How close is Panama City to Orlando? When they come, how long does the infestation usually last? Just a week and they are gone or longer?

Thanks for updating us with ;) the bad news! I am getting itchy just thinking about them.

You're right, got kind of carried away with the days. Since our trip starts on Sept 21, I guess I'm just wishing it was middle of the month. ;)

POR from 9/3-9/6

no love bugs at all and we were all over the place.

expecting them for our return trip on 9/18-9/25 I guess.

It would be very handy if those of you coming back at the end of September could let us know how bad things were when you left. Last September was as bad as we've ever seen it and I am hoping October is going to be clear this year.

My younger DD hated them last year. I hope they don't show up before we get there next week.

I just had to say I love the picture of your Pug. I'm a mom to a Pug named Percy and I too leave in 6 days for the world. I'm glad there are no bugs right now. We have been down this time of year before and have never experienced them. They probably wouldn't bother me but my DS10 is a clean freak and he would flip.

We just came back from our labor day weekend mini-escape to "The World" and it was not sooo... bad. I actually did not feel one love bug at all on me. My hubby didn't get attacked either so I guess that there weren't many love bugs this time around. Normally love bugs love sweet perfumes so try not to wear anything that smells too sweet b/c it attracts them more. At least thats what happens in my case. Hope this helps and that you have a wonderful time at Disney.:goodvibes
