Anyone interested in a few days at Gulf State Park?

Welcome to the boards ! (At least I don't recall hav'n welcomed you before.)
But I gotta tell , you go talk'n words like that then we would be the kinda folk to hold you to it ! What a awesome offer,

Judging by your name why did I think you'd like the offer? It is avail to anyone that wants to go. We'll sort it all out as the time gets closer.

Rog,

We love Gulf State Park - it's probably our most frequented camp ground.

Summer dates will be tough for us though with kid's calendars. I've been in May and July though. No need to make ressies unless it's for holiday weekends (Memorial, 4th, Labor).

They were building a pool when we were there last summer which should be done this winter (supposedly) but even with state contracts and payments SURELY it would be done by next summer. Wouldn't it? Maybe? Not like the pier?

So forge ahead and if we can make Gulf we will. We'll probably go at some point in the summer but if we can hook up with you it would be FUN :woohoo:

Tungpo.....no, dagnabbit they dont allow carts!! But they SHOULD....its a HUGE state park!!!

BamaEd....They finally got around to opening the pier. The pool.......like you said....who knows!!!! But with the beach being right there..who needs a pool!!!

Frank.....I think THIS just may be OUR kinda trip!!!

Im wondering if we have anyone on the boards that may be interested in a beach trip to Gulf State Park in Alabama this summer. Its a great campground on the beach and would be a great place for some friends to get together and spend some down time relaxing.....

It is a beautiful park, too bad Ida took a big fat swipe at it :sad1: We've had a pretty good amount of damage down this way due to Ida.

That pier just opened back up in July from where Hurricane Ivan destroyed the other one. :sad2:

I know, everyone was so excited to finally have the pier rebuilt from Ivan and we only got to keep it 4 months. :sad2:

We did okay, flooding and tree limbs/debris here and there and loss of power for a bit but not as bad as some others. Not nearly as bad as it could have been though.

Glad you didnt get much damage....hopefully the pier wont take too long to repair...thats money they are losing out on(isnt there a daily admission price on it?) so Im sure they will get it up and running quickly.

My Aunt and Uncle have a condo on the beach in Gulf Shores where they spend the summer. They have been asking us to come down, but we haven't made it yet. I also have an Aunt that lives in Mobile.

We just might have to come on down too!

Has anyone started talking about a Pigeon Forge trip yet? I would really like to do that as a group also...John mentioned it to me recently, but didnt have any definates dates yet.

Denise had mentioned getting one together at PF when it was brought up that Gettysburg may be far for the southern people. Tenn. was a little more "central" for you guys, and us "snow people". I don't know if dates have been discussed yet. Actually I had mentioned it to Aleise, because she is DYING to go to Tenn. and she was hoping that would be one you guys might go to. hint hint hint;)

I always tell people that I am from the south (after all I do live here), when they look at me funny I tell them South Brooklyn!!!!!

Hint well taken, lets get with John and Frank&Denise and see about making it happen. Ive been wanting to do PF for years and have never gotten around to it......this is just the kick in the pants I need.

I would really love to meet up with all of you in PF, the only plans we have for the summer is the week of Memorial Day we are going to the keys. I just can't take any time off in June.
