Anyone interested in a few days at Gulf State Park?

I hear it gets a bit nipply in Dolly's hills!!!

Todd.....I have a feeling your gonna fit in just fine around here!!

Mornin', Rog! :surfweb:

Just sayin' that we'd love to join you...but right now we're setting our sights on Gettysburg. We did PF in 1991 & really enjoyed it. It's a great, easy day for kids and adults. Not as frenetic as WDW. Easier on the pocketbook, too.

The main drag thru PF reminds me of US192 in Kissimmee. Wall to wall gift stores. I don't know if this has changed since '91, but the first nite there when we went to have dinner, I asked what kind of beer they served. Well, slap me in the face! At that time NO restaurant could serve any kind of libation, BUT, you could go next door to the 7-11, buy a six pack, and bring it into the restaurant with you! Huh? :confused3 That was my first "eye-opener" to the traditional "old south"!

If Rick sells a lot of houses this season, maybe, just maybe, we can do Gettysburg and PF. That would be nice. However, our MH may go into shock because it's never been anyplace but Ft.W!:sad2:

We were there in Feb '08 and went to a nice brewery. I am sure it was a Big River Grill and Brewery (like at the BW) but I guess it is closed now. Did find a listing for Smokey Mountain Brewery though. Also, we stayed at a simple little campground right at the entrance to the SMNP. Definitely nothing fancy but many of the sites backed up to the Little Pigeon River which was really nice!

WELL, I THINK WE NEED TO DO A WINTER CAMPING TRIP UP HERE IN WISCONSIN AT PENINSULA STATE PARK. FRANK AND THE BOYS CAN STILL GO FISHING (ICE FISHING, THAT IS) ON GOOD LAKE MICHIGAN AND ALL THE KIDS CAN GO TUBING..THAT IS TUBING ON A HILL IN THE SNOW --- NOT ON A LAKE :).

THE ONLY THING IS THEY DO NOT ALLOW TOBAGGONS.

Winter Camping
In winter, part of Tennison Bay Campground is plowed and open for hardy adventurers. Electrical hookups, pit toilets, and a winter water supply are available, but shower buildings are closed. Register at Park Headquarters before setting up. Stay safe and plan wisely if you camp in winter!

Sledding and Tubing
The number 17 fairway at the park golf course is a favorite sledding spot. The hill is steep! Adults must supervise children at all times. Toboggans are not allowed.

The only winter camping I do is on my driveway during Christmastime.
Put out the slide, turn on the heat, pop in a Christmas CD, lock the door, and wrap presents. :santa:

While I'd be all for winter camping..it's the winter towing that's kept our trailer right on the driveway. Oh..and the toilet pits in the campground description :scared:..now that sounds just a little wee bit chilly.:rolleyes1
:rotfl:

My Aunt used to live in New Hampshire, in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere. For years they had no indoor toilet , only an outhouse. We only visited her in the summer... :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Whoa..that's rough. Did ya ever wonder what happened if she had the pukes :crazy2: or the runs?
She had to be out there for a while...and then what?..Frostbite on the butt?..:confused3 Winters in New Hampshire without indoor plumbing..That's tough livin'. :sad2:
Not to mention(but you know I will.) you might see a bear in the woods:ewok: ..talk about having the you know what scared out of ya. :scared:

Sooooo, PF,,it's a date then ??? :confused3

During winter we used a honey pot and the older kids would havta empty and clean it next morn'n,,:crazy2:

I'd be in for Pigeon Forge also!!

Does a new thread need to be started regarding PF? Maybe to get an approximate head count and dates that will work for those interested in attending? I live in the PF area and do not mind at all helping get this togehter. I must be honest in saying that I do not know much about CGs in the area because most of our camping is done with my parents who live in FL. I can do some research or someone who has done a lot of camping in this area can just pick a place. Right now I am still trying to heal and get over my surgery, but I am willing to do whatever I can to get the ball rolling.

Okay, I'm gonna just take the bull by the horns and start a new thread...if there isn't one yet.
