Anyone in here decorate cakes?

Will his company buy your house if it doesn't sell? That is a lot of change in a small amount of time!

BTW...is Cake Central down for you guys too? It has been down all day for me.

Soooo many great awesome cakes. You guys are sooo talented!
Question: do you make the cakes from scratch? I bake a lot and my cakes taste very good but are NOT pretty at all.....
This thread also made me find the Wilton classes in my area. This has me thinking about taking one (or 2..)

Such cute cakes!!! I have been decorating for about 4 years but am currently taking a break from it as I am due in late November/ early December!! There are so many cute ideas out there though!!!

I took the Wilton classes probably 4 1/2 to 5 years ago and it got me started, but there is so much information online to help you expand as well!! I recently saw this video being promoted on a cake board that I frequent and it is getting pretty good reviews. http://www.sugaredproductions.com/
When I get back into decorating, I might have to try it out.

I love making my son's cakes and now I'll have 2 kids to make them for!!!

Happy Caking!

Doubtful on the company buying the house...but if they want him bad enough, they'll figure out something!

Haven't tried cake central today...

I haven't been able to get on Cake Central all day... and there are several things I've been wanting to look up, too. Ugh.

Mary, that ghost and pumpkin cake is so adorable...the ghost with the pumpkin on his head just cracks me up! :) Great job!
Thanks! I had fun making that cake. I had one more pumpkin left and I wasn't sure what to do with it... so I put it on the ghost's head. I thought it was pretty funny.:lmao:

Thanks to everyone for the compliments on my Halloween cakes. I'm doing a cake for my DD7's soccer team party this weekend and then a really silly cake for my DD9's 10th birthday next week. I'll post them when they're done.

Mary

OMG you guys...today was my first day at the cake shop. I think I'm going to die...my calves are killing me...my right arm is about to fall off...and my allergies are acting up! I did wear my crocs all day, so at least my feet don't hurt!

I went in today for a chocolate workshop and then she had me stay and fill and crumb coat, what seemed to be a billion cakes. I did goof up once...i was supposed to fill an 8" cake with hazelnut mousse and a 9" in raspberry and mousse. Uh-huh...I knew it would happen...I reversed them. LOL...I did my best not to panic though because the owner of the place was there, but the girls helped me fix my error. PHEW...Then, the end of the day came and everyone had to leave. They asked me if I could stay and finish filling/crumbcoating. I said sure, so they left me...alone...lol. Talk about creepy! It's in an old Victorian style house with a basement. Let me tell you... the noises I was hearing...I couldn't get out of there fast enough! ;) So day one down...and now i'm going in on Saturday to help with deliveries. I don't know why I said that I would help...I've got a paper due Sunday that I haven't started on along with some pretty big assignments for my other class. Ugh...

Overall, it was a good day though! They do want me to get into decorating though. Just simple stuff, but not quite yet. I've got to get the icing down first.

Just wanted to share!!

wow Brandie! sounds tiring! LOL

Hey Brandie...we can just hope they are friendly spirits and can give you a little tap if you go to put the wrong fill in again.

Just kidding! Keep up the good work, it will get you...more work. ;)

Went out on my first deliveries today! Talk about a heart pounding experience...delivering multi-tier cakes is most definitely not for the faint of heart! We survived, as did the cakes, and all were delivered safe and sound. :) I guess next week, they have an 8-tiered cake to deliver. I'm glad that I won't be on that one!

I can only imagine! My Bakery mgr offered to deliver a wedding cake I am doing in a few weeks...we don't offer that service for good reason; we're simply not equipped to do that. Can't wait to see how THAT plays out. :rolleyes1

I just finished a cake for my daughter's 10th birthday! It's really pretty goofy. She's a having a pasta making party at a local cooking school and for some reason is inexplicably obsessed with MONKEYS!!!:rotfl2:

For some reason, I have alot of difficulty posting pictures in threads here, so here is a link to the cake in my CakeCentral gallery:

Great cakes everyone.

:cool2: DS11 asked for a surfboard cake for his 12th bday next month. Has anyone ever made one? Any tips or pictures?

Nice monkey-spaghetti cake! Soooo cute, you are very creative! :thumbsup2

Here is the cake I did today for our Thanksgiving dinner. It was chocolate with haystack cookie filling. It was yummy!

Mosmom- Great looking cake!!! What's "haystack cookie filling"? It looks yummy!

Mary

I make these cookies called haystacks. They are a chocolate peanut butter fudge cookie with oats, coconut, and pecans. I used the cookie (no bake cookie) mixture as the filling and topping. It was outstanding together.
