My DD is working for a few months near San Jose, California and we will be going out there to spend Thanksgiving weekend with her. Can anyone suggest somewhere to go for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner? We're not foodies so we're not looking for anything gourmet or fancy, just a good turkey dinner with all of the usual accompaniments. A buffet would be good but it doesn't have to be that. I'd like to spend no more than about $40 per person. Suggestions anyone?

Try the Hayes Mansion. I've stayed there for corporate training and it was really nice. I've never had the Thanksgiving Buffet, but the place was really nice.

Probably more than $40 pp though.

You should post this over on our Disneyland Community Board, you'll find a few people from SJ there. I've never eaten TDay dinner there so I really can't help much, but if there's a Mimi's there they will have a very good traditional dinner available. :)

Thanks for your responses. The Hayes Mansion sounds wonderful but unfortunately $40 is the absolute max I can spend. There is a Mimi's and that's one of the places I was considering so it's helpful to hear that it's good. I will post on the Disneyland board. Thanks again!

I posted on the Cali thread with some details
here is the link for Harrys Hofbrau

I think technically it is in Saratoga - on the corner of Saratoga Ave and Stevens Creek Blvd. I believe. Hubby loves loves loves their turkey dinner. I like their corned beef myself.

San Jose is my hometown and where I met DH - we always hit Harrys when we go home for a visit. My kids love it too

I LOVE Harry's but I think they are closed on Thanksgiving--you could go the night before to get all of your Thanksgiving favorites, then hit a Chinese place (or something else) on the day itself. Harry's is the #1 thing I miss from the Bay Area, their turkey is amazing.

There is a Mimi's in San Jose and that's what I would recommend for T-Day dinner. We got an entire take-out turkey dinner from them a few years ago and it was great. The turkey dinner they serve in the restaurant is great too. It does tend to get very crowded so you'll want to get there early. I believe you can also do call-ahead seating where they'll add your name to the waiting list. It's located on Campbell Ave, near the intersection of Campbell and Saratoga Ave. The official address is El Paseo de Saratoga which refers to the large strip mall where it's located. You can look up the location and get directions on the Mimi's website. When it asks you to enter a zip code, use 95129 to get the San Jose location.

Thanks to all who responded. I believe Harry's is closed on Thanksgiving although I will check to be sure. We are currently considering Mimi's and Maggiono's. I called Maggiano's yesterday and found out that they have a family style meal that sounds really good.

FYI, we did Mimi's last year, they took a reservation for us. So definitely call and ask about a reservation and not just call ahead seating.
