We'd like to have a party sometime in January or early February and are looking for a theme/type. At first I thought of just having a chili dinner late January, but then I thought maybe a Groundhog's Day party would be fun.

I've googled a little, but would like some ideas from the horse's mouth, if any of you horses have ever thrown a Groundhog's Day party. :) Or maybe some of you just love to plan parties and have some ideas?

One idea I saw online was having a green and white theme (green for spring, white for winter). I think that would be fun and easy to work with.

Pin the tail on the groundhog:lmao::lmao:

Sorry I really have no ideas but have a great time

My family had recently moved back to an area where I had several old friends. Groundhog's day just happened to land on a Saturday, and so we had our party then. We all got a good chuckle at calling it a Groundhog's Day party, but there was no thematic decorations involved. Feb. is so depressing, I suggest having the party either way. Have fun!

I figured we'd have it the Saturday before Groundhog's Day. Maybe we will just make it a generic green and white party. I saw a groundhog cookie cutter online and thought it would be fun to make little finger sandwiches with it.

I like your idea to chase away the winter blues. Maybe make all foods that start with the letter Gg??
If kids are involved.. Play a game where you have to guess what silohuettes or shadows are of.
Green and white colour idea is neat that you had.
Watch the Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day

Our neighbors have a Groundhog's Day party every year. Nothing special, just drinks and snacks. (but fun) The invites are cute though, they always say "7 pm until Charley (the host) sees his shadow."

We do an annual chili cook off in February. Easiest party ever. I supply power strips, cornbread, and beer. Everyone brings chili in crockpots and we put numbered post its on the pots. You serve yourself samples in coffee cups, and at the end of the party vote for best, hottest, and most unusual in a good way. I spray paint wooden spoons gold for "prizes." This is a good neighborhood party, because even people who don't have anything in common can talk about the different chilis!

Or, consider planning a party around any of these 'unusual' holidays

We have a party on that day every year. It's my husband's birthday. :lmao:;)

Have never done a Groundhog Day party, but keep meaning to do a winter beach party - decorate like a luau, turn the heat up and play summer music, etc. You could do that on any day.

I used to do a Christmas in July craft party, and the whole out-of-seson thing is a lot of fun.

:woohoo: I still vote for you doing a Mardi Gras party! Fat Tuesday is on Feb 16 this year! You can order a ton of Mardi Gras stuff from Oriental trading company! :woohoo:
