Anyone Heard of a possible refurb at AKV adding the pull down bed in the studio to make a 5 ?

I have seen a lot of refurbishment being done at different DVC resorts adding the pull down bed for a 5 person occupancy at VWL, BWV, and BCV in the Deluxe Studios.

My Question:

Has anyone heard of AKV Jambo or Kidani being on the books for this same treatment?

For the Deluxe Studios without a doubt and leave the chair in the one bedrooms.

Don't mess with those chairs. They are GREAT!!! At least at BLT. I assume AKV have the same ones.

I certainly hope not- I hate the lack of storage in the studios and would much rather have a dresser than an extra bed. I can't begin to imagine actually enjoying a trip with 5 people tripping over themselves in a studio- studios used to be wonderful for DH and I and the extra beds are ruining them.

Since AKL, BLT, and OKW accommodate 5 in a 1 BR I think they may not be high on Disney's priority list to convert studios to also sleep 5. I suspect the whole conversion thing really stems from the sale of PVB (and possibly plans down the road to expand DVC at VWL, BCV and BWV). I think it is probably easier to sell PVB to families of 5 when they have the ability to trade into other resorts. Since VWL, BCV, and BWV do not have sleeping space for 5 in the 1 BR (and it seems it was not feasible to install the Murphy bed or sleeper chair in the Living room) I think they decided to increase the studio capacity. Obviously people could trade into a 2 BR to have sleeping spots for 5 but the point cost would be way higher and probably more than many PVB owners would actually purchase.

Yeah, I don't want to see it happen at Kidani or Jambo either. I love having a table, and they removed the tables at VWL to fit the bed. I fear they'd do the same here.
Besides, that's our dues that would be going to fix something that doesn't need fixing.

These are the types of decisions that it would be nice, as owners, to have input considered before changes are implemented. I know that they can't satisfy everyone, but if 90% of the owners would be unhappy with the change, there is no reason to spend our money to make changes that are unwanted. Just wishful thinking on my part....

Okay, popping this one back up as I recently saw a permit filed that Disney is upgrading the softgoods in the Jambo rooms (to be completed in November of '15.) If Disney has to file a permit, it seems it would be more than just replacing curtains, comforters and couches. But then again, I know nothing of Florida permit laws.

Anyone know how a softgoods update is defined? Praying it would not be to add a Murphy bed in lieu of the dresser that's there.

Its not unusual for Disney to file a Notice of Commencement when its about to do a soft goods refurbishment that is just replacing curtains, comforters, reupholstering couches, etc. Such was the case a couple years ago when SSR underwent a soft goods refurbishment. Notices of Commencement are usually very cryptic, so its too early to say what Disney may be doing at Jambo.

As an unpacker who typically stays in studios, I am really not a fan of this trend of removing dressers and replacing them with the murphy beds. It makes me very unhappy that all of the storage space other than the closet is essentially at floor level. This results in storage space that is virtually unusable for guests with limited mobility that restricts their ability to bend, kneel or crouch. And the closet space is usually cluttered with the pack-n-play, limiting the storage space there. I really don't know how a family of five could spend more than one night in a studio without constantly tripping over their belongings. Sigh, I guess that is one of the downsides of being a DVC owner who doesn't fit the traditional family mold.

The dresser is very nice and quite usable, with 4 deep drawers. My problem is the loss of the table, which was always "home base" with my computer set up on it. I now no longer bring the laptop due to this, and just bring my Kindle Fire. If Disney thinks they're getting me up and out faster because I don't have that laptop, they're wrong - I can play games for hours on that kindle.

This is good to hear - I thought they were all similar to the Poly set up. But I still am not a fan of adding the murphy bed so the studios can sleep 5.

Lol, I guess I'm the minority in favor of the murphy beds! With a blended family my teenage DD and stepson are not sharing a bed. So, the murphy solves someone having to sleep on the floor on an airmat.

My little family is twice as big as it was when I bought into DVC - but buying more points is not in the budget. With more "adult" park tickets to buy, mouths to feed and RT airfare, we "make do" with our little studio. I say that tongue-in-cheek because I feel very blessed to even have that much. I'll keep my stuff in a case if it means my kids each get a bed
