of course the other side - you could definitely rent them no matter what.
I'm not convinced of this. If the points-per-night are high I think that will also keep renters from staying there.
. We have only stayed at the Contemporary once, in the '80s and didn't like the resort at all. Now, we've discovered eating at the California Grill (first time for my birthday in January, total will be 3 times this year) and seeing the fireworks and the veiws from there, and that does appeal to us. The hotel just doesn't do it for us!
