Anyone having second thoughts about BLT?

of course the other side - you could definitely rent them no matter what.

I'm not convinced of this. If the points-per-night are high I think that will also keep renters from staying there.

depends upon Disney and what they are charging for the villas.

from what I have seem Disney will be charging top prices for these things.

so yes, you could rent it.

it is new, next to the MK, how many times have been asked for a DVC on the monrail.....

VWL is the closest to MK right now. BLT will be that much closer - plus walking back when the lines are long. heaven.

I'm having second thoughts the other way. I'm just at the point that I'm ready to pay "boardwalk view" prices at BWV! If we find they are "worth it" then I can see us wanting to stay at BLT for a view of the fireworks at MK. I woudn't be buying these for a family stay, this would be a smallish add on, whatever it would take for DH and I to enjoy it, and then head over to VWL for the rest of the stay:goodvibes . We have only stayed at the Contemporary once, in the '80s and didn't like the resort at all. Now, we've discovered eating at the California Grill (first time for my birthday in January, total will be 3 times this year) and seeing the fireworks and the veiws from there, and that does appeal to us. The hotel just doesn't do it for us!

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. The purchase will only be if guaranteed MK views are available.

pretty sure this is a given.

they can charge more points for it and bay lake if they separate them from the parking lot and CR views.

so since AKV has so many views would expect the same for this thing.

I still think that a lot of people will be put off if the points-per-night are high, particularly if the economy continues the way it is now. There will always be some who will be willing to pay for the location, but I think many will choose to stay elsewhere to save the money. IMO, it would be risky to use the ability to rent those points as a deciding factor for a purchase at BLT. It's too much of an unknown.

I agree. I would never buy into BLT just on the hopes of being able to rent out the points. The MK view and the location are what will make this property unique and desirable but it can still be priced out of most people's budget.

I haven't even used my first AKV points yet and I was strongly considering buying into DVC at the Contemporary (sorry I just can't bring myself to call it a sandwich!) With the rumored point price and points per night I am strongly doubting that we will be buying points there. We are going to see how we like SSR. If we like it there, we are thinking of possibly adding on there (given all the deals that can be had on the reslae market right now.)

I gave up on buying a small contract at BLT (and BCV as well) as soon as the ramifications of the new reservation policy were understood (I would have wanted to try to pick up a day or 2 during high demand times).

I apologize if this is real obvious, but I am new here. What is the new reservation policy??

you can now book your full week of your trip from 11 0r 7 months out based on check in date. You used to have to wait until check out date to do this. Alot of people would call day by day to get their dates.

I have to agree with other posters. I was originally jazzed about buying into Bay Lake Towers. However, if the point cost - both buy in and amount needed to stay are too high, I will not buy in. I really don't NEED more points. :)

I just can't resist buying points there. The great views of MK, Bay Lake and the Seven Seas lagoon; walking to the MK, and monorail access seal the deal for me.

Same here. We fell in love with the contemporary - the view, the monorail, water access, and of course walking to the MK. Again, just how much we will buy here depends on point cost and points for a MK view room. However, unless the cost is more than double what the current costs are (and I can't see that happening), it will still be cheaper in the long run than our yearly trips to CR.

To be fair, I don't think you've been able resist buying points anywhere!!;)

I'm going to just have to wait and see what the the numbers actually are, that way there will be no more ifs or buts.

you know that is an excellent point and one I didn't consider.

might be buying if the budget can stand it!
