DH has a very common name. This past Oct on our return flight both DS & myself were able to use the self-checking kiosk but DH couldnt. DH had to go to the ticket booth. At the ticket booth they had to call to have his name cleared. Told us in the future it could take from 15min to an hr to clear him.
So I guess from now on when we fly w/DH we get to the airport 3hrs ahead of time!
anyone else have a common name that ended up on the "most wanted" list?

My 6 yr old son's name matches one and I work for an airline!! It caused a big problem early Jan. TSA added close to 16,000 more names to the list. Airlines had huge problems. My wife and son missed a plane because they were trying to clear him but the phone lines to Corp Security were jammed. Finally got on the next flight.

Now at my AAirline, due to enhancements, a simple entry into the reservation system (usually date of birth) will automatically submit the name and data to the watch list, compare it, then within 30 seconds give an all clear. If there is still alot of similarities, the call to security desk is still needed. But, at least the wait isnt as long anymore.

What you can also do is call the Reservations number for the airline and let them know you are traveling that day. They can have all that info sorted out before you get to the airport. You can only do this day of departure though.

Can he book using his middle initial or full middle name - would that help?

Unfortunately this doesn't work. NAme on the ID has to match ticket.

Its a major bummer, but the airlines are working to get the job done quicker.

Does he have a FF account? Make sure it is on the ticket. Over on www.flyertalk.com some people have indicated that seems to help. (NOt sure why, but it's worth a shot!)

My Drivers License has my first, middle, and last names on it. If yours is the same, I would book using your husbands entire name.

Thats the problem. It uses all the names. It will use first name, middle name last name. If any part of those match the watch list, Tag, your it.

Oh, now I understand why you posted about this on the other thread! Just ignore my question, I didn't understand. Thanks! :wave2:

I've been traveling to and from Orlando (MCO) for many years and for the past couple of years I get a little heart cut out on my boarding pass and told to habd over at check point. When I get to check point I'm put aside in the closed in area and my items are checked as well as me, they wave that wand around me and before they begin they ask me questions and I have to wait for a female security guard to come wave the wand around me. It takes time and only happens when I am leaving MCO. Now I make sure I am at the airport early to avoid missing my flight. At least this only happens coming home and not to MCO!
