trying to make up my mind. Really want the EX-L but worried about the heat and stickiness of the leather. Dealer assures me this is real leather and will not be anything like the vinyl that many other vehicles call "leather"
Anyone shed some light?

I love, love, love my Honda Odyssey. I also love the leather seats. Of course, when it gets really hot and you sit down on the leather with shorts on, it will feel warm, but it does cool quickly. The heated seats are heavenly during cold weather. You will love the van.

Wouldn't have it any other way! Actually, right now my Odyssey is at the body shop after being hit in a parking lot (while parked!) and my rental has cloth seats. OMG! I hate it. I hate getting in. I hate the way it feels. I want my Odyssey back.

I live in Florida and don't have any trouble with the seats getting hot. Certainly not like the vinyl my parents had in 1979.

:lmao:
Almost exact same situation here--except my Odyssey was hit while I was sitting at a red light! It will be in the shop for over a month before it is complete (that's if they have it ready by the date they estimated!)

To the OP, yes we have a Odyssey Touring with leather seats. LOVE them! Never want to go back to cloth!

we have an Odyssey 07 that I LOVE LOVE, but it is time for a change. I like the fabric, but that EX-L is calling to me. The only reason that I am hesitating is the lack of cloth seats. I have always had velour or some kind of cloth. Even with 5 kids, we have not had problems keeping the seats looking nice. What the dealer told me makes sense if its true.

03 Honda Odyssey here with leather seats. They have been great, especially heated in the winter here in Illinois. I recommend the leather seats.

Leather is nowhere near as bad as vinyl, but in all honesty, in the summertime, in shorts, yes the leather feels sticky on the backs of my legs. Luckily, the a/c works well, so I never really get hot and sweaty on the seats, but I am personally more comfortable sitting on a cloth seat, when I'm wearing shorts.

I keep buying cars with leather seats, though, because they are easy to clean. Cloth seats can get really gross when you let your kids eat in the car. :rotfl: The leather is also comfy in the winter, and easier to slide in and out when wearing long pants or skirt.

I've had two Odysseys with leather. I had to have the first one decked out in leather in the aftermarket as it was not an option back in the late 90s.

Love it. No problem at all and I've been experiencing temps up to 108 where I am. Hate velour. I think it's hotter.

We have an 2003 Odyssey with leather seats. Have NEVER had a problem with the seats being too hot. :thumbsup2

We have the 2011 Touring Elite and it is by far my favorite car I've ever driven. DW and I were dragged kicking and screaming into the minivan world, but with DD6 starting to have multiple friends over and doing many more activities in groups, we foresaw the need for a car with more seating and I refuse to buy an SUV. The leather is as soft and comfortable as my "nicer/luxury" car and it has never stuck to my skin. It is also durable, showing no noticeable wear despite two young children and a dog being tough on the seating on a daily basis.

I am now trying to convince my wife to trade cars with me, as I'd like to drive the Odyssey full time. She's not biting, however, as she prefers it to her former "nicer" car, as well. We may well end up with two Odyssey's, they are so nice.

We lived in Phoenix when I had a car with leather seats. The leather was hot, but everything is hot at first. I found leather cooled more quickly and was more comfortable overall even in extreme summer heat! I will buy it for the next car if I can afford it!

The only down fall with the leather is that you will never be able to ride in cloth seats again. :lmao:

Honestly, though, it's true. The cloth seats just skeeve me out now. I adore my leather and they are so so easy to clean. Buy the EX-L and don't look back.

Our first one too (2000) - it didn't have leather - we had it replaced with leather at sale.

Now have a 2005 leather as well - wouldn't have any other seat coverings.

We have had 3 vehicles with leather seats and no matter what the dealer tells you they are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Tinted windows help some but we use those pop up window shades all the time. Also, if you are warm in the car and wearing shorts, your legs will stick to the seats. I MUCH prefer cloth (we have microfiber in our van right now--LOVE IT). Leather, however, is easier to wipe down if the kids make a mess in the car.

I have a Pilot, not an Odyssey, but it's a Honda with leather seats and I love them. I'll never go back to cloth. I don't find it particularly cold in the winter, and yes, it's hot when you first get in the car in the summer, but it's not like you're hot and sticky all day - after a minute it's fine. Getting a light-colored interior will help with that issue as well.

This is absolutely true. Two of our three cars have leather seats. In the winter they are really cold (heated option is a necessity IMHO) and yes in very sunny weather in the summer they can roast you.

Love my leather seats. Love my Odyssey!! I never have noticed my seats being hot when I get in and it's been a hot summer. Our leather is light tan so it doesn't suck up the heat. The front two seats are heated but I rarely use it because I'm an over 50yo woman, lol!

I have a Prius with leather seats. Love it and love the leather.

agnes!

my odyssey did not have leather, but my highlander does. dh bought it and I ended up with it and let me tell you, I love leather seats but I HATE that they are black leather. black leather does get HOT. when I choose my next car, my plan is to get a light colored leather

We have had tan, light gray and dark charcoal gray (black basically) the tan was by far the worst for hot seats, the darker gray was actually the best. Either way, the seats are hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
