Hi!

Has anyone had a Celtic wedding theme? Or have you seen photos of one that you could send to me? Non-Disney wedding photos are okay too.

Thanks!

Are you looking for current or Medieval themes? I'm a little confused if you are looking for pipes (which are in some pictures here now from a recent bride) or the Celt rings, or what? Kate included some Celtic music in their wedding to tie in the Celtic heritage and was piped to the limo... but there are so many wonderful customs you could include. More info on what you have in mind would be helpful. ~Ev

Years ago I remember seeing photos of a woman from Scotland who had her wedding ceremony at the YC's gazebo. If I remember correctly, her husband wore a kilt and I ~believe~ they had a bagpiper at their ceremony (the bagpiper was a friend of the bride & groom's). The photos were lovely. Sadly, I just searched the 'net for them and found that the couple’s wedding website has long since disappeared. Such a shame, too, because it would have been helpful to you.

As to generic Celtic weddings, just search the Internet for "Celtic Wedding." I did that and thought I'd share the first link that popped up: click here. There are lots of photos there that may prove useful to you.

Have fun planning, and don't forget to share your plans here!

These are some irish head pieces.

My fiance and I are both Irish, so we're doing an Irish wedding ceremony, with bag pipes and all; I found my tiara and our wedding bands on www.tarabridal.com. Hope this helps. I have more websites for you if you want to PM me.

I'm looking for fun ways to have an Irish/Scottish theme, going beyond the kilt and bagpipes. I was thinking the flower girl could carry a horseshoe for good luck, tied with a bow to match the plaid in the groom' kilt.

I found a really neat vow and unity candle blessing online.

Celtic Wedding Vow, by Morgan Llywelyn
"You cannon possess me for I belong to myself
But while we both wish it, I give you that which is mine to give
You cannon command me, for I am a free person
But I shall serve you in those ways you require
and the honeycomb will taste sweeter coming from my hand
"I pledge to you that yours will be the name I cry aloud in the night
and the eyes into which I smile in the morning
I pledge to you the first bite of my meat and the first drink from my cup
I pledge to you my living and my dying, each equally in your care
I shall be a shield for your back and you for mine
I shall not slander you, nor you me
I shall honor you above all others, and when we quarrel we shall do so in private and
tell no strangers our grievances
"This is my wedding vow to you.
This is the marriage of equals."

Unity Candle Vow
Irish Vow of Unity, from the Irish Wedding Book
"We swear by peace and love to stand, Heart to heart and hand to hand. Mark, O Spirit, and hear us now, Confirming this our Sacred Vow."

We're having a Celtic / Irish themed wedding. Sadly though..no kilts.
I'm wearing the Silver Trinity Knot Tiara as pictured above from ShopIrish.com. Here's a link to my bio on the Knot.

Some of my ideas are not listed in it because they are surprises. For instance my flower girl will be wearing fairy wings because an old Irish legend tells of how the fairies were always trying to steal the bride for her pretty dress - I can't remember the exact details, but they are in this book Irish Wedding Traditions which I highly recommend. We'll include the explanation in our wedding program.

My mom has also made an awesome replica of Bunratty Castle to use as our card box (FI loves castles!) and we'll have my family crest placed on the front as well.

We're also having our wedding bands engraved with a sentiment in Gaelic.
