Anyone have pics of wheelchair accessible ride vehicles at Disneyland?

I would love to see any pics out there of the ride vehicles designated for wheelchairs or wheelchair transfers at Disneyland. We are planning on taking my 30 year old brother with cerebral palsy to DL and I'm trying to make my own research file on what he can and cannot do, and what we should be prepared for.

He is not able to assist in any transfers. He can pull himself into a standing position and stand with an assistance bar, but can't move from that spot without help. My dh and I will both be there to help move him, but it won't be an especially quick process, so rides that don't stop for loading and unloading are probably out.

I've saved a copy of the brochure from DL for accessibility info, and I've found a few great pictures from BillSears of specific ride vehicles for Pinocchio, and BTMRR and I would love to find more pictures. They are really helpful to cement a visual in my head!

Anyway, thank you for any help you may have! :)

Since you mentioned me....Hi! :goodvibes:goodvibes.... you've probably already seen some of these but I thought I'd repost them and a couple more here to help inspire others. ;)

Here's the special car for Pinocchio with the side of the car opened. Snow white has a car that's just like this one.

This is the ride car for California Screamin. It's got a set of "steps" to lower yourself down into the coaster.

Here is the car for Mr Toads Wild ride. It's not adapted in any way but it's not too tough of a transfer for me.

This is the car for Peter Pan. Unlike the ride in WDW at DL they can stop the ride so there is time to make the transfer. I'm not sure how long they'd be willing to stop it since there are cars backing up behind you but they didn't rush me at all for this. It was great to ride to Nerverland again.

It's a Small World is a bit different at DL then WDW. It's still a ride you can roll onto but the vehicle has a spot similar to the Jungle Cruise platform. You roll out onto it and they spin it to face forward.

This is the picture of the accessible Big Thunder Mountain Railroad car with the side folded down at WDW but it's the same as at DL.

This is the screen that they use for the Finding Nemo ride. Since the subs aren't accessible at all you can go to a small room near the ride where they show a video of what you would see outside of the sub's window.

Here's a picture of the Tower of Terror in WDW but the ride car is the same for DL. The front opening slides to the side and is wide enough for me to roll my wheelchair right up to the seat for an easy transfer. Hopefully you can see where the gate is....Besides I love this picture, the park was so empty we got a whole elevator car to ourselves!

I didn't get pictures of these rides but you can stay in your chair for Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story Mania, the Monsters Inc ride and the Jungle Cruise.

I'd be happy to answer any specifics I can remember. Hopefully others can help out here too.

Hi, Bill! :flower3: Thank you sooo very much for all of those pics! They are just great. I was especially glad to see the pic of Peter Pan. Since I wasn't sure we could get my brother on the ride, I thought we might have to change our traditional first ride of the visit. But, nope - I think it will work! :)

I love that picture from Tower of Terror! How fun to have the whole ride to yourselves!

Thanks again - I know no matter what, he will have a wonderful time at DL, but it helps the compulsive planner in me to know ahead of time as much as possible. Knowing what to expect will help things run that much more smoothly, I'm sure.

I do have one question...I seem to remember reading a while ago that, due to the height of the track of Peter Pan, they wouldn't allow someone to ride that couldn't get down out of the ride vehicle easily, in case of evacuation. Has anyone found that to be true?

I can't walk at all and no one mentioned it to me. Hopefully you'll be fine.

BTW the seat for TOT that is easiest is the seat closest to the aisle in the row with 4 seats. My Mom and Aunt went to the other row so I just followed them there. But the other aisle seat is easier to transfer into.

Thank you - that's good to know about PP. :)

Okay, I did think of one more question...Pirate of the Caribbean. How does the wheelchair accessible loading area work for that ride? I know we would enter through the exit, but the actual loading into the boat?? Is it still step down into the boat? I think my brother would love that ride, but I'm not sure if my DH and I could lower and lift him in and out that far.

I can do Pirates by myself at WDW by sitting in the back row because the side of the boat is higher there. But at DL I can't make the transfer back up after the ride. The DL boat sits lower down then the WDW one and the back row has a gap between the side of the boat and the walkway.

All I can recommend is to go in and see it for yourself. It might be doable but you'll have to decide if you can.
