Anyone have experience with "dessert seating" for F! @ Disneyland?

I've done this 3 times as well. Twice riverside and once in the balcony. I must say the balcony was far better and it is a shame it is no longer offered. The food was a much nicer spread and I must say I thought the view was better but that aside I think it is worth doing at least once. When I did it however even the riverside had the food as a type of buffet. It was cookies, strawberries and such and it was still all you could eat. I guess the boxes are ok since they are so large but I have not done it since they have changed this and since they raised the prices either. I think back when I went it was only 39/per person. But again I think everyone should do it at least once!

I totally agree that even if you didn't get the food, esp if you have never seen fantasmic, it is SO worth it not to have to sit on the ground OR wait so long to see the show. ENJOY if you go!

We did this in May last year and LOVED it - totally doing it again. It is expensive, but we don't buy a lot of souvenirs and really appreciate the bit of spoiling (and the chair!!) that come with this. It is a must do for October :thumbsup2

Here is a pic of the dessert box we got (a little different than the other picture posted already):

Is this the same show that they have at WDW?

If so we may give it a miss, as we've seen the other one lots of times.

Almost everyone will agree that DL's Fantasmic! is notably better than WDW's, aside from seating arrangements. IMO, DL's has a lot less reliance on pure video projections, and instead of a Pocahontas fight scene, there's a fight scene on "Captain Hook's" pirate ship, all while it's moving across the water. There's also the fun of watching a show magically appear on an island that you very well may have walked on during the day, using boats that you could have ridden on as show elements. When it reopens there should be even more awesome effects.

I had seen DL's several times but when I saw WDW's I thought it dragged a bit...not saying it's a bad show by any means, but I think DL's is overall better.

The main disadvantage of DL's is that you have to either sit on concrete or stand to see the show, and if you want to see the first show you have to camp out fairly early to secure a good spot. You should be able to see the later show without such a long wait, though, or of course there's the dessert seating package. (I'd like to do the package someday, but I don't like strawberries so that makes the box less of a value in and of itself :flower3: and mostly, it's still a lot of money to me. I wish I would've done the one back when it was on the balcony/old Disney Gallery (now Dream Suite) area...that must have been an experience!

I think I need to do this again when we go back with some of the DK in Sept. I think it may only be offered the first night we are there (the Sunday of Labor day). Does anyone know if the Concierge people will make these reservations for you? I've never stayed Concierge before (stayong on Developer Points so I'm betting this is my only time) Has anyone had Concierge make the reservations for this? If so, did it go smoothly? I'm worried that if I do this it may sell out before they make the reservations, and then I'd be out of luck..

As Eeee-va said DLR's Fantasmic is better than WDW's. They have also added some new elements to the DLR version which will be shown when it comes back (slated for an official opening on June 12th I believe).

We did the balcony viewing buffet many years ago and enjoyed it. Haven't done the riverside viewing before, but will be in a few weeks when we go down for my b-day! :yay:

Just chiming in to what others have already mentioned. DL's fantasmic is not to be missed. We saw WDW's version last August and it did not compare to what we were used to at DL. It's been over 5 years since we did the riverside fantasmic seating so we might splurge this year since we're not staying onsite this trip.

What is the current price? When we went so many years ago there was an adult and kids price. Are there still 2 prices, kids and adult?

Is the location still the same? The last time I did this it was across from the entrance to the Haunted Mansion and it wasn't the best view. I remember reading that the viewing area is now dead center. I'm wondering where the chairs are now set up.

Are you staying at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels? They will make the reservations for you. :)

I'm staying at the Grand californian. So..I just call and ask them to make the reservation? Sounds too easy!!! :)
BTW..if the show gets cancelled I guess you are pretty much out the cost?
When we were there in January and they were running Fantasmic every night, it was cancelled several times from wind.

If the show is canceled they will refund your money. If you cannot make it then you are out the cost. Disney Vacation Planning will make the reservations for you. :flower:

We just booked this for 9pm show on 6/23. Since we're only two weeks out, I was happy to see there were still openings!

FYI-they still have seats open for the 10:30 show on that night. 6/24 - early show is sold out but seats open for 10:30. There are also seats open for both shows on 6/25.
