Anyone have Direcway satellite broadband?

We have dial-up internet - no cable tv or any kind of broadband access is available to us except for satellite. Does anyone here use Direcway? How does weather affect your transmission? How is the customer service? It is pricey and I would like to find out what experiences others have had... Thanks in advance!

we used to get our internet through direct tv but we felt very let down as customers when they decided to change to their current system and rather than letting their existing customers (who had already paid a set up fee) transfer to it free or at a discount, they cancelled all of their existing service contracts and required a new account set up at the same price they were charging new customers. when we found out the set up cost we figured there were plenty of other providers that offered free set up and reduced costs for at least the first six months of a contract.

we had great internet service with them but did'nt want to lay out set up fees a second time only to have them change or upgrade the system yet again and charge yet more set up fees.

We just moved and had the DirectTV guy over to install our TV. I started talking to him about sat internet and he said that he does that also. The month cost has or is suppose to drop, however he said that he setup costs are just off the wall. He said that in most cases he can go into an install and walk out with a check for $800 because of other costs that they don't tell you about when you register for the service. He said if he has to actually go into the roof it's an extra charge, if he has to perform certain tasks in order for it to run on your mahcine another extra charge.

I don't know if that's the same in every area but beware of the startup if you do look into
