Have a soft sided we plan to bring and was wondering peoples experiences with coolers. Any trouble? Does it have to be cans? Do you check it or do you carry it on with you? Thanks for the info, just a little nervous about bringing it, but dont want to spend $5 a drink for 5 days.:bounce:

All we took was a couple bags full of cans, but let me tell you what I saw:

This guy had, I'm not even sure what you'd call it, like a hand-cart or luggage tote... anyway it had 2 wheels and a back and he had an Igloo cooler strapped to it!! The kind you take camping, ya know? :)

Must've had 2 cases of soda and 2 cases of beer in that sucker!!!! He wheeled it right on board, so I cannot see how you will have any trouble.
(They did of course go through it first, for security reasons).

Bottoms Up!

We had a soft-sided, wheeled cooler when we boarded on 8/17. We had it full (but no ice) with soda in cans and some wine cooler bottles. We had anticipated boarding with it ouselves along with our carry-ons, but the porter at the curb assured us it was all right for him to take it with our other luggage, and I quickly took another luggage tag out of our documents and placed it on the handle. Thinking about it now, maybe I should have worried about a bit of rough treatment and the wine cooler bottles breaking - but we had no trouble at all. Everything was fine, and the cooler showed up in our room a little while after we boarded.

When we sailed in January the porter would NOT take our cooler. She said we would have to carry it on with us because they had problems with leakage in the past. Ours had wheels so it wasn't a big deal. Just be prepared to either way.

You can bring glass containers on board but not up on deck due to the possibility of it breaking.

We took a soft sided cooler with wheels this past July and pulled it right on board, no problems We had it filled with wine and soda, no ice. Needed to put it through the scanner, but nothing more than that. It was very easy and it came in very handy when we went to beaches in Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
