Anyone have an old iPod Nano? If so, read this.

Just curious -if you type in your serial number into the website and it accepts it and says it is sending out a box, does that mean that it is a qualifying serial number? I never received an email but when i typed in my info., it wasn't rejected. Do you think that the site cross references the numbers or should I have checked somewhere else first?

I typed in my serial number and found out that I qualified. However, I accidentally deleted the e-mail that they sent me after registering. What did it say in that e-mail?

It gives you a repair ID number and confirms the street address, letting you know that you should receive the packaging within the next two business days that you need to mail in your Nano. Do NOT send it in your packaging, only the packaging they send you.

And that you must mail it back within 10 days.

Has anyone receivers their mailers yet? I wonder if they will come UPS or USPS. if its USPS Im screwed, always takes forever to get here!

Didn't get an email from Apple, or had heard about this before this morning, but I stumbled upon this online news article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...d-Nano-recall-earliest-model-If-new-free.html
Typed my serial # and and it looks like I've got one of the recalled ones. The article says we'll get the newest one (IMHO, Apple would never go through all of this to send out defective old product!) Good luck everyone!

Great news! Although anything this late in the game is great to me. I purchased the 2gb one right when it came out mainly because they were still so expensive back then. Anything larger than a 2 would be great to me.

It would be great if the article is correct, but did he/she hear it from Apple? I agree, it would seem a little cheap and not good for PR to send out refurbs. However, recalls on other products like cars, all they do is the required repairs.
I am hoping the article is correct as I have the 2GB and am nearly at capacity for memory so if I end up getting a refurbished one in return, I may have to buy a newer one so that I can continue to add songs.

No idea. Reading other online stuff this morning, it seems ABC News has confirmed that Apple is sending out the newest Nanos as replacements, while CBS News says that they are awaiting info from Apple on exactly what is being offered as replacements. Clear as mud, it seems! But, it sounds like an unlikely Apple faux pas if they were to offer ancient technology replacements. They typically wildly exceed customer expectations, in my experience.

Did anyone else receive their return package today? I'll be dropping mine off at Fed Ex in the morning, hope the replacement comes in soon, I'd hate to have it come while we're at Disney!

I haven't received the packaging to return mine yet. When did you do the "paperwork"? I went to the Apple store a week ago today and have been surprised that I haven't received it yet.

I completed mine online the day I got the email which was November 12.

I have not gotten return ship boxes either.

My DH said he would like to just keep his since he isn't sure he can get the same music back on but when he learned it was recalled due to random spontaneous combustion of the battery he agreed it needed to be sent.

Could it be that they'll replace the problem battery on yours, and send it to me, and send mine to your neighbors, and on and on? Refurb as they go, with some initial refurbed stock onhand to begin the process?
