We're thinking of getting a Sunsetter Awning for our deck as it has southern exposure so is really too hot to sit out there for much of the day. Does anyone have a Sunsetter Awning? We'd also like to get the screen room accessory so we'd also be able to use our deck in the evening and not worry about bugs.

Anyone have any feedback about this product? Let me know!

My parents have one on the back patio. It's easy to set up and great in the summer. It cools off the patio by at least 20 degrees. They've had it for probably 6 years or and it's been no trouble.

we have one. go with the electric one. we didn't and i think it's a pain to pull out. we have the screen too but it's also somewhat of a hassle to put up and the bugs just come from underneath the deck through the boards! it does shade the deck nicely though.

We have one also and I would echo maps in saying if you can afford the electric one, get it. We have the manual and it is somewhat difficult to manuever alone. We have the screen too, but we solved the bug problem by buying some astroturf from Lowe's for the deck. It does keep the back of our house much cooler than it used to be.

We have one on our deck and really like it. It also keeps our house a bit cooler because it blocks the sun from coming in through the sliding glass doors.

I'm not the OP but, thanks for the replies.

Question: Did you all install these yourselves? How hard was it?

Any comments on the price range on the electric ones?

we have a glassed in porch and we have an awning that you hand crank and it goes straight down the glass instead of out and it makes a ton of difference in temp. It's not so bad to hand crank because it's just up and down, not out.

We have the electric one and we love it. We have the remote mounted inside the window frame where it's barely seen. One of my favorite uses for it is as a big umbrella when I have to let the dog out in the rain. I think it can withstand 20mph winds, but we don't use it when it is windy. My husband and his brother installed it, and it was easy- but it was heavy. We ordered ours from Costco and saved a lot. The price depends on the size you want. It was delivered to our house straight from the manufacturer. I think ours was around $1000, maybe $1100. We got the hunter green one and I love the color. The sales rep tried to talk me into a cream colored one with green stripes, but I didn't care for it. He thought that the solid green one may be too dark, but it isn't. Mine is on my deck right off my kitchen and breakfast nook. It's not too dark in my house when I have it out.

Good Luck.

We checked these out but were disappointed to find out that since the addition off the back of our house is only 1 story there was no way it could be installed high enough for adequate head room. Be careful when I explained out situation they told us it would be no problem, but then I faxed a picture and they agreed it wouldn't work!!

We are starting our third season with a Sunsetter on our deck. Wonderful.
