Anyone Have a Sony Handicam HC 21 camcorder?

We recently bought one. We're trying to convert the video to a CD. The Sony software that came with it won't convert it. We've read the instructions, but they don't make sense. The store clerk suggested using Micosoft MovieMaker which came with our computer. It won't pull it off the camcorder. We also tried Easy CD Creator 6.0. It's not the full version. It won't pull it off the camera either. What are we doing wrong? What software do other people use? Any tips? We're driving ourselves crazy. Yes, the USB is turned on on the camera.

Does your computer have USB2.0 hardware? If not, the USB port on your computer might not be fast enough to pull the video off of the camcorder. I am not familiar with that camcorder. Does it also have a firewire interface? You might end up having to buy a firewire card or USB2.0 card for your computer.
