Anyone have a Roomba?

I despise vacuuming so a roomba sounds quite appealing to me. Here are my questions:

1) Is it loud? Can i run it while i'm in the same room?
2) How is it with pet hair? People hair?
3) How long does it last on a charge?
4) Does it ever get stuck behind a chair or something?

1. It's not really loud, less than a regular vac but it's not quiet either
2. pretty good with hair, but the trash receptacle is small, needs emptying often
3. not sure about this
4. YES!!!!

I actually find the roomba more of a nuisance than anything. I have to block all of the places I don't want it to go, the cat chases it and the dogs bark at it. It goes in circles a lot and keeps cleaning the same areas and misses some areas completely. Mine is now unplugged because 1- I couldn't just let it run unattended-might as well vaccuum 2- the cat turns it on if I leave it plugged in but he doesn't ride on it :rotfl: It is a good concept, if you have large open areas it would be a good investment but if you have a lot of little nooks and crannies (furniture) that it can get under it's probably more frustrating than helpful IMHO.

I'm actually feeling guilty right now (a little)--I turned a Roomba thread into a snarky thread! :rotfl: I have a special skill. :lmao:
What was once (yesterday;)) an annoying word has become a funny one.:teeth:

:teeth: Speaking of which, I should really turn Snarky on in the kitchen on and let him (or is it a her?) do his thing.

Still waiting for iRobot to get me the fix to the problem withour Roomba. I'll keep the thread informed.

Sorry no buns - but I am sure it would work on the hay and poo with no problem - really -- bunny poo isn't so big so it might just suuuucckkk it right up - unless it just pushed it around like it does Kix sometimes :lmao:

I really love it and think you would too.

That would be my luck!

1) No.
2) Yes.
3) Probably not.

We love our Roomba, anyway, even though it is currently out of commission. (They're supposed to be sending us a diagnostics kit. It's been a week... maybe I should call them again.)
I'm just curious, what's wrong with your Roomba? How long have you had it?

We've had it about four months. When we turn it on it jumps a little forward, tries to go backwards in a circle, jerks, and then stops.

When I got mine, it worked great at first but, around day 40 or so, (the store wouldn't excange after day 30) it would leave the charging base go a foot or so then go dead....like it wasn't charged. They sent me a new battery which helped it clean a few rooms but, then it did the same thing. They had me take out the battery and try resetting it which didn't help. I've found the I-Robot folks to be helpful and, they are sending me a new Rooma. Maybe you could ask if they could send you a new one. Just an idea.

When mine worked it was the best thing ever. I can't wait for my "new" one.

Well, the OSMO arrived on Friday, we plugged it into our Roomba, the lights blinked for 90 seconds, and then stopped. We took the OSMO out, and turned on the Roomba. It proceeded to clean the living room as if nothing was ever wrong.

Very cool.

I love my Roomba. granted you still need to use your regular vacuum too. We have a very long haired show golden retriever and a long haired cat and 3 kids and half the neighborhood here usually. So I use the regular vacuum every other day and roomba in the morning and at night on the day I don't vacuum and at night on the days I do. It goes from hard floors to carpet fine and stops itself at the top of the stairs. Fringed rugs really should be piced up before use, as it can get stuck on them. Even real thin rugs it can suck up the edges and get stuck. But the thicker area rugs I have without fringe are fine. It's wonderful for the balls of hair constantly falling off the animals and the leaves and sand and small food debri the kids leave around. Just keeps things tidier. Make sure you don't have any small pieces of things that could get stuck in it under beds and stuff cause it goes there too. Which is great, cause how often do I really move 4 beds and vacuum under tehm. LOL Because of the pet hair I do have to use the cleaning tool and pull off the stuck hair and clean the bristles every other use. Small price to pay for me. It has become my 6 yr old's favorite toy. He begs to turn it on and follows it all over the house. and it usually goes about 2 hours on a full charge. It comes with a replacement filter which they recommend you change evey few months. But because of the pet hair and dander I take the used one out every time I run the dishwasher and put the fresh one in. It gets pretty clogged with hair and dander and I dont want my motor to go. I recommend it if you would like something for touch ups or have kids or pets. Just keep it's removable inside parts clean so you dont blow your motor.

I,ve found buttons and a marble in mine. So I'm sure it would get bunny poo. So long as it's very dry. Or it could mush into the brush or plastic rotor. ewwww Then it would be trails of streaky poo.

They sent us one of those one time, too, which fixed our Roomba. Pretty amazing.

Our Roomba flipped out on a week or so ago. Would turn on when we put the battery in. We called the company about it and they said to return the Roomba and they'd have to send up another Roomba (don't worry, I'll name the new one Snarky, too...). Don't they know that they've already sent a replacement before and the first one was bought a couple years ago. I'm not going to complain if they want to send us another one, especially considering that we bought my in-laws one and it broke before the year was up and they just bought a new one instead of contacting the company. I guess it evens out in the end. Not to mention the fact that I've recommended that so many people buy the Roomba that I probably should be giving free Roombas for life. :rotfl:
