Our dryer started taking longer and longer to dry the clothes . Its a super nice dryer and less then 3 years old. I think we paid around 1200 on sale for it . We called LG and they told us they would send a tech out but they would have to charge us because after 1 yr they cover nothing . No problem we need the dryer fixed .
They charged us 200 and then told us it was because we use DRYER SHEETS ! Really ??? Something about it coats the sensor ?? Why was that not mentioned in any of the paperwork when we bought it ? :headache:

So my question is ..... Is this what I have to look forward to with this brand ? My Kenmore ran for almost 15 years I gave it away when I bought this one and it is still going . It was a cheap dryer I think I paid less then 200 bucks for.

We've had an LG dryer for 6 years now and have not had any problems. I use dryer sheets with every load. Sorry to hear that you're having problems already

We have an LG front loader washer and dryer set, bought 5 years ago with no troubles whatsoever and we use it hard, probably 2-3 loads a day plus the occasional load of horse blankets, halters, etc. Whenever it starts taking longer to dry, we clean out the vent hose really well and make sure there aren't any kinks or bends in it. That solves the problem every time. I use dryer sheets on every load except diapers too. Also, the relative humidity in your house will affect drying time. If you've had a lot of rain recently, that may also contribute to a longer drying time.

Our LG vent is at the maximum length to the outside. Every 6 mos or so the dryer gets boggy so my DH take the blower and blows out the vent. Even though I remove the lint from each load, it still builds up over time and has to be blown out. That's my story on my LG dryer. I do 2 loads of laundry a day and 4 on the weekends!

The first thing my Dh did was clean the vent to see if that was what was wrong, it was fuzzy but not to fuzzy . ( Dh is a freak about it because that is a leading cause of housefires ! dang Fireman ;) )

See I knew that the dryer sheet thing sounded like foowie . I wonder what was wrong with it ??? IT has not given us any problems since the tech came out .

I love the washer and dryer because it is so energy efficient . I must admit you guys are making me feel better about it . I just want them to last after the fight I put up to get them

Did they replace the sensor? Was that definitely what was wrong with it? I wonder if there's anyway to just clean it yourself occasionally.

We bought LG washer & dryer on Christmas eve 2006. I don't know why but we decided to buy the extended warranty at Best Buy. Oh boy, have we gotten our money out of that deal.

First both the washer & dryer were completely replaced in the first 6 months. The 2nd dryer then had so many repairs (very expensive repairs) that just this past June they replaced the dryer again. I did not want another LG. So I currently have a mismatched pair. I have the LG washer and a Whirlpool Duet dryer. The new dryer is awesome!!!! If the washer goes out again, and the warranty is expired I will buy a new Whirlpool washer.

After my experience I will never buy an LG appliance again.

I've had an LG front load washer/dryer now for a little over 4 years and there was a time less than a year ago where it did stop drying the clothes and my husband went out and bought something to fix it. He didn't really tell, I didn't ask, I was just happy that it was fixed. And I use dryer sheets everytime I dry a load, but my husband does not.

I have an LG and never use dryer sheets. A repairman told me years ago to stop using them (had a different brand then) because they are terrible on dryers and I did. I quit using Downey when the scent started to be overpowering. I use vinegar now, clothes smell fresh and I save $ and no chemicals. LG and Samsung were the two top rated washer and dryers when we bought ours 2 years ago.
My vet suggested rubbing our lab down with a dryer sheet before it storms (she's terrified) so I tried it and it didn't work. I had a really hard time shampooing it out of her fur, it seemed waxy...I don't want that on my clothes.

I have a frontload LG washer/dryer that is approx 8 years old and have had a few issues with the dryer, but never told it was due to dryer sheets. The sensor did go once and the other time it was something different - dont recall the issue. I do laundry daily and i do think its on its last leg.

I have a front load washer and dryer by LG that we bought at Best Buy. We also took out the extra insurance and am glad we did. Our dryer had to have the computer panel replaced and then something else went. Ever since then everything has been fine. They are both over 9 years old.

I don't use dryer sheets. We bought those dryer balls in Bed Bath and Beyond and also use tennis balls in the dryer. No static and everything is soft.

We just got brand new LG Washer and Dryer front load machines 1 month ago. The washing machine has already been replaced.

I would highly recommend having your dryer vent cleaned. We have ours done once every 2 years. Not only should it help your dryer performance, but it is also a huge fire hazzard to have a lot of lint build-up in the vent.

We don't use dryer sheets. The premise behind them is that they coat your clothes with the "softeners" and as a result, they also coat your dryer and anything else in there. I have an LG washer/dryer set and I have never had a problem with either. If dryer sheets are causing your problem with your sensor (maybe its located in a bad place?) then use vinegar in your wash cycle as fabric softener instead. I do that on occasion and it works wonders!

Have a LG dryer, it will be two years this Thanksgiving. I knew from beginning not to use dryer sheets. Hubby told me, I assume it was in paper work ,but don't know.

My Dh was the one that was here with the Tech and he said the guy told him he cleaned off the sensor . I swear I went over all the paperwork last night I READ the whole booklet and there is not one word in there about no dryer sheets .

I have to have dryer sheets :rolleyes1 Bounce ..... I tried the Bounce bar and hated it . So back to xryer sheets I went .

I have no choice but to live with the mixed reviews :headache: I just want them to last . My Dh keeps asking why I am stressing out over it LOL it is fixed and done with .
