I’ve been wanting a label maker for a while. Today’s the day I purchase one. I didn’t realize there were many different types.

i need one that will make labels small enough for bottles of essential oils, but large enough to label folders and kitchen drawers.

can anyone tell me what you are using and whether it’s easy to use.

I have a Dymo. It came with 1/2 in (12mm) label tape, and I can change the size of the print. - So it would be perfect for folders, and you could trim the label after printing (before peeling the backing off) for little bottles. I did successfully label some tool room drawers with it, but I don't think I'd like the look for my kitchen ones.

I've been using the same Brother label maker for more than two decades. A few years ago I bought another one because my kids kept taking mine. It's so easy to use that my kids were able to label their own stuff when they were in kindergarten. The labels are waterproof, dishwasher safe but easy to peel off when you wish to. The only damage I've seen is some slight discoloring of painted wood pantry shelves. You can buy them and their labels at Sams Club or Costco. The labels are cheaper at those places too. I regularly give them as wedding, baby shower, and housewarming gifts.

Don't discount using the variety of labels that Avery makes and just printing them. For things on display, a printed label might look nicer.

I have a Brother P-touch, and it has been great. Can charge and then carry it around. Takes a variety of sizes of label tape-- looks like 0.13 inch to 0.7 inch (height of label). My font size adjusts depending on how many lines of text-- I think it can do up to 3 lines. The label tape comes in a variety of sizes and colors.

I've used a Brother P-Touch at work. It looks similar to the model below. I could change the size and style of the fonts. It was mostly used for labeling boxes. I printed out a dozen labels to label my plastic drawer cabinets at home. It was great for printing out duplicates, Simply hit the button to print out another one, or to repeat the same words out.

I did find, however that it wasted a lot of label tape. It would always add on an excess 1/2" of tape onto the beginning and end of each label. It's where the cutter is. Then the labels would need to be trimmed down to the width I wanted. Since I had to use scissors to cut the labels down to size anyway, instead of wasting so much, I would type in the words for one label, add about 5 or more empty spaces then type in the next label. Repeat until I had all the labels I wanted. Then print out one long strip and then cut them apart.

I have had one of these DYMO Embossing Label Makers for decades. It takes a lot longer to create a label as you need to manually turn the letters and then press the handle to emboss each letter. But, the labels are out of a strip of plastic and the letters are raised (embossed.) It's not as convenient as the label makers that spit out the paper labels. But, I sit and watch TV while I'm cranking some labels out. They look so much better than the paper version of the labels. They make a nice gold label tape now.

Thanks. I was looking at this Brother label maker at Walmart

If I had to buy another one, I'd make sure the tape it uses was "split" on the back, it makes it so much easier to peel the backing off.

Brother label maker that offers a ton of features for a contractual electrician like me. I love how the high-resolution display shows the labels I’m working on and lets me choose multiple font sizes, styles, and frames.

Welcome to the dis, james.

I use a p touch by brother I’ve had for years. Tho I have no issues with my current one I just picked one up at Costco, another p touch by Brother that has varying fonts, and up to 2 or 3 lines. It was $27. A steal …and came with 3 tapes.
