Just called about the "Pin Trading" Wonder cruise, 5/16 - 5/19. They're sold out. I asked to be put on a waiting list for any category, we had wanted cat. 5.

Has anyone ever had luck with this? 60 days prior is March 17 - the last day to cancel for 100% refund. I guess we'll have a better idea by then.

cathyz try calling DCL reservation every day, maybe even 2 or 3 times a day. You may get to cruise with persistence. Good luck!!!:)

So, do you think that calling would work better than the "waiting list"? I was thinking that maybe they kept the cruise "sold out" until the contacted everyone on the waiting list. Is that even possible???

My 1st reaction was to keep calling, but I'm not too familiar with DCL. Thanks. I guess I'll do both the "list" and the calling. Any other experiences???

We had luck with the waiting list for Early dining, no luck with waiting list for Beach Club for our hotel. Didn't try for a wait-list for a category though.

I'd say after the 60-day mark, you've probably got a good chance of getting the category you want, since it's that point when people cancel their reservations, and get their deposit back.

I've been on the waiting list twice, once for a different dining seating, and once for a different cabin category. Both times I used the method Ginger described to change my reservations.

I was told by one of the DCL reps that the wait list is not immediately referenced when something opened up, but rather it was checked each morning against existing openings. So if someone were to cancel after the wait list was checked for that day, the opening would be there if someone else (me) were to call in and check for openings.

I made a habit of calling every day, it only takes a few minutes. Have your reservation # handy to speed things up. In my case, persistance paid off both times.

We are on the waitlist for a different category. Since we booked through DU can we still call DCL ourselves? I didn't realize I should be calling to get a better chance.

I'd be interested to hear the answer to BethA's question. On our last trip, I booked directly with DCL, which cost $100 more than the quote DU gave me, but I wanted to have control over changing things. Mostly I knew I could be more of a pain in the butt to the DCL reservations desk than a TA could be. I figured they'd be able to call MAYBE once a week, and I wanted to make sure I could make the change I wanted.

When we tried last July to get on the Magic for March 2002 and were told the cabin category we wanted was filled, I did call my travel agent and had her put me on the waiting list. Four months later we got a guarantee for Category 5. We took it. Three weeks ago got another call that Category 4 opened up and we had a room assignment and all! We took it! My feeling is that when the money is due, people back out and you get what you want!

Anyone have any more info on this. Now I'm wondering if I should be calling, but I don't know if they would change it for me since we booked through DU.
