Question for you all.
DBF is going to the oral surgeon today for a consultation. Here's a bit of background.
A few years ago he took a tree in the face, and smashed quite a few of his upper teeth. Ended up having them all removed, and getting a full upper plate.
Plate never sat right, and required "glue" (his word) from almost day one. They were readjusted a few times and still never sat right.
Tuesday he went to my dentist, and had a consult regarding his lower teeth, which were not smashed in the accident, but were pushed around quite a bit. Seems that his lowers- 8 of them need to be removed, leaving 6 in the front. He has to go to an oral surgeon for them, because of the root damage from the tree accident.
While at the dentist- the dentist stated that the reason his plate wont fit right is because there is part of the bone on the left side that needs to be shaved so the gum is level.
Today we go to the oral surgeon, and the only part thats bothering dbf is the bone shaving. Pulling the other teeth doesnt phase him, as he'll be knocked out and he knows what the recovery time is of that.
Anyone ever had a jaw gone shaved? Was the recovery similar to that of a extraction? Any thoughts on specific questions to ask the surgeon?
Thanks
Brandy
